London, October 6 British street artist Banksy has stunned the art world with arguably his most audacious prank yet, self-destructing one of his best-known works moments after it fetched more than a million pounds at an auction here. ‘Girl with Balloon’ had just sold at Sotheby’s for 1,042,000 pounds (USD 1.4 million, 1.2 million euros) — a joint record for the maverick artist — when it unexpectedly passed through a shredder hidden in the frame. “It appears we just got Banksy-ed,” said Alex Branczik, Sotheby’s head of contemporary art for Europe. “The unexpected incident became instant art world folklore and certainly marks the first time in auction history that a work of art automatically shredded itself after coming under the hammer,” the auctioneers added. Chhattisgarh will go to polls on November 12 and 20, while Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram elections will be held on November 28. Polling in Rajasthan and Telangana will take place on December 7, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said. The counting of votes will take place across all five states on December 11. The EC also announced polls to the Shimoga, Bellary and Mandya parliamentary seats on November 3. These seats fell vacant before May 18. Thirteen critically injured passengers were airlifted to military hospital in Udhampur. Two of them died at the hospital. Three persons with minor injuries were discharged after first aid. Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range DIG Rafiq-ul-Hassan said the minibus was on its way from Banihal to Ramban when it veered off the road around 9.55 am. “Thirty-six persons, including the driver, were travelling in the 20-seater vehicle. The driver probably lost control over the overloaded minibus, which fell into the 200-metre gorge,” Hassan said. Their condition was stated to be stable, sources said. PTI New Delhi, October 6 Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday claimed that Pakistan and China were pushing drugs into north India under a well-planned strategy to destroy the Indian military by spreading addiction among the youth of these states, mainly Punjab. “Two-thirds of the Indian Army regiments are from northern states. If the youth of these states are not healthy, enrolment in the Army will be hit,” he said, advocating a national policy on drugs. “We have had an influx of drugs... and we have cracked down hard.
