The extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani with wind speed touching nearly 200 kmph that made landfall earlier on Friday on the eastern coast wreaking havoc in Odisha, will cross several districts in the state before advancing to neighbouring West Bengal. PM Narendra Modi has been one of the most talked films in recent time. The film’s release was put on hold and the makers suffered because of the stay at the last moment. According to the Election Commission notice, the film and the promotion around the film can’t be done till the last day of the Lok Sabha Elections, which is May 19. Obeying the EC’s order, the makers have now decided to release the film on May 24, soon after the Lok Sabha Election 2019 results. The last season premiered internationally on April 14. Parrot Analytics, a TV content analytics firm specialising in global audience demand measurement, partnered with Guinness World Records to chart the demand and declare it officially. The Parrot methodology claims to use global, realtime and platform-agnostic TV demand measurements. Guinness and Parrot charted worldwide demand for all series premieres from April 2015 to the day of Game of Thrones season eight premiere to determine the measurement. Craig Glenday, editor-inchief at Guinness, said: “Game of Thrones looks like it’s going to continue breaking records right up to the final, undoubtedly devastating episode.” — IANS Behind the scenes Lisa Ray to lend her voice for bandit queen documentary Canadian-Indian actress Lisa Ray is lending her voice to Phoolan, an upcoming animated documentary about Phoolan Devi. The feature documentary, to be directed by Iranian-Canadian filmmaker Hossein Martin Fazeli, follows Devi from being born into a poor village family, sold off as a child bride and enduring multiple gang-rapes, before responding by leading a bloody gang of male bandits as a female Robinhood. Upon being captured, she was charged with many crimes and was imprisoned for 11 years. But the government ultimately dropped all charges and she was released. Devi then ran for and won an election to the Parliament of India to champion the rights of lower-caste women, only to be assassinated in 2001 by an upper caste man. Lisa, as the main voice-over artiste, will also executive produce the project. — IANS Perfect role Nicole Kidman to star in Nine Perfect Strangers adaptation at Hulu Big Little Lies star Nicole Kidman will be headlining Hulu’s new series Nine Perfect Strangers. Based on Liane Moriarty’s 2018 novel of the same name, the show recently scored a straight to series order from the streaming platform. The story follows a group of city dwellers who attend a 10-day retreat at a health and wellness resort and don’t know what is about to hit them. Kidman will portray Masha, the woman who runs the remote resort. The 51-year-old actress will also executive produce the series. The show will reunite the actress with her Big Little Lies showrunner David E Kelley and executive producer Bruna Papandrea. John Henry Butterworth is penning the series with Kelley and will also serve as coshowrunner. The two will executive produce alongside Kidman, Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Casey Haver, Per Saari and Moriarty. — PTI

The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
