He was addressing residents of the area while inaugurating the Qila Barun-Bada Bajwara village road. He said the 1.52km-long road, constructed at a cost of ~19.53 lakh, has provided relief to the residents of the area. The road was a long-standing demand of area residents. OC STIR BY SANITATION WORKERS STILL ON Hoshiarpur: The strike of the sanitation workers of the municipal corporation entered the 15th day on Tuesday. Today’s protest was led by Vikramjit, vice-president of the employees’ union and sanitary supervisor Harbilas. On the occasion, leaders of the union raised slogans criticising the poor functioning by MC administration. The workers said the strike would continue till they get their rights. The MC administration assured the employees that their legitimate demands would be fulfilled soon. The workers vowed to even go on hunger strike for their rights. OC MAN LOSES BIKE TO 3 MISCREANTS Mahilpur: Three bike-borne youths snatched a motorcycle from a man who was on his way back home after having medicine from the Civil Hospital, Mahilpur, late on Monday night. Guljinder Singh, son of Roshanlal, a resident Chak Malla, has complained to Chabbewal police that he had gone to the Civil Hospital to take medicine along with his niece at 10.30 pm. While returning, the three youths stopped him forcibly on the Bahowal bridge and he fell on the road. After riding his bike, they fled towards Mahilpur. The police have registered a case. OC ONE ARRESTED WITH STOLEN BIKE Jalandhar: The rural police have arrested one person with a stolen bike (PB-08-DQ-1185) on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh, alias Kala, a resident of Thuthgarh village in Moga. As per police officials, the accused had stolen a bike from outside an agriculture field at Chak Bahmanian Khurd village in Shahkot on Monday afternoon. The doctors say ~250 crore has been pending with the state government for the last six months and despite their repeated requests the dues were not cleared. The doctors said the hospitals were going bankrupt, therefore they were left with no other option but to stop admit new patients and suspend the services. Talking to Jalandhar Tribune, Dr Paramjit Mann, president, Punjab chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said there are about 700 hospitals empanelled with Ayushmaan in Punjab and they have been working smoothly for the last three years, but after August last year when SBI General Insurance joined as insurance company for the scheme everything started going in wrong direction. Urging people to utilise this helpline in case any government official demands bribe in lieu of any sort of government work so that exemplary action could be initiated against such erring staff at the earliest, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori got the display boards have been installed at several locations in the District Administrative Complex. The sites where these boards have been put up include Sub-Registrar Office, new patwarkhana building, sewa kendra, treasury office, SDM-1 main entry, tehsil corridor, all floors of DC Office, RTA Office, SDM-2 office near driving licence window and old patwarkhana. Dial helpline number in case you are in trouble: CP Jalandhar, May 10 A day after Jalandhar Tribune published a report regarding a rise in cyber crime in the district, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police swung into action and launched a massive awareness drive to sensitize people to such crimes. Releasing the awareness poster, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Toor appealed to people to immediately dial 1930, which is citizen financial cyber fraud reporting and management (CFRMS) helpline number in case of any kind of cyber swindling. He said this CFRMS portal was set up on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs and being handled by the state cyber cell. Any kind of cyber fraud reported on the portal is dealt promptly by the officials at the special cell. He said after intimating on portal through helpline number 1930, the complainant would be asked to furnish a detailed account of the incident at the website http://cybercrime.gov.in He said the matter would further be referred to the state cyber cell for thorough investigation. The driver of the car Jalandhar, May 10 Two cops posted at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur have been booked and arrested on the charge of peddling drugs on the campus. The two accused, identified as Head Constable Shakti Kumar and water carrier Jai Ram, have been booked under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Phillaur police station falling under the Jalandhar Rural Police. He said he made payments on Jai Ram’s PayTM account too and later got to know that Shakti Kumar was taking drugs from Jai Ram. SSP Swapan Sharma said the cops who confessed to have taken drugs from the accused were now being rehabilitated and de-addicted. Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi, a member of the Hockey Punjab’s ad-hoc committee, duly appointed after the suspension of Hockey Punjab by the Hockey India, while announcing the Punjab hockey team said Jaswinder Singh of Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, will lead the Punjab team in the 12th Hockey India Junior National Men’s Hockey Championship to be held at Kovilpatti (Tamil Nadu) from May 17 to 28.
