In the course of inquiry the police have booked three persons, identified as Roshanara Khatoon, resident of West Bengal, Vikas Patel, resident of Patoraagram, Bhatanyara in Panna city of Madhya Pradesh, and Mangal Sardar, resident of Dakshin Barsat, Jainagar in 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 66-D of the IT Act. The victim said he had an account and also a credit card of IndusInd Bank. “I had applied for a cheque book when I received a telephone call from a mobile phone asking about details of my bank account and credit card. I was told to download app of the bank and as I did so, my credit card was used for Rs 99,974 in two transactions,” said the complainant. OC MOTORCYCLE SNATCHED Ludhiana: Baldev Singh, resident of Bagga Khurd village lost Rs 50 and his motorcycle to seven snatchers riding three motorcycles during wee hours on Saturday. Baldev Singh said he was going to his fields on his Hero Splendour motorcycle (PB10DF-0696) when seven persons, riding three motorcycles, cornered him near Humbran Road. They took Rs 50 that were in my pocket, snatched the motorcycle and escaped. The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 149 of the IPC. OC ONE ARRESTED WITH 9-GM HEROIN Ludhiana: Chirag Malhotra, resident of Mohalla Fatehganj, was nabbed by the police on Saturday from Ghati Mohalla with 9 gm of heroin. The police said Chirag was coming on foot and on sight of the police party, he made an attempt to turn back. He was intercepted on suspicion and his search led to recovery of 9 gm of heroin. Chirag has been booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. OC 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL GOES MISSING Ludhiana: A 13-year-old girl has reported missing from her residence in Sherpur Kalan since May 11. An uncle of the girl has lodged a report with the police that she had gone to a tailor for some alteration in her clothes in the afternoon and did not come back thereafter. The police have registered a case under Section 346 IPC and are investigating. OC TWO HELD WITH 35 BOTTLES OF LIQUOR Ludhiana: The police have arrested Pankaj, resident of Dr Ambedkar Nagar, from near Atam Park on Saturday, while he was going on an Activa scooter (PB-10HQ-5988) to deliver liquor bottles to his customers. The police have recovered 24 bottles of XXX Dollar Rum and also impounded the scooter. Elderly couple killed in accident Ludhiana, May 15 A couple, Raghbir Singh (75) and his wife Surjit Kaur (72), died on the spot when a speeding bus of Rajdhani Transport hit the TVS Scooty they were riding from behind at Ladhran cut near the Neelon Canal bridge in the district today. The deceased couple belonged to Gurditpura village, near Doraha, and they were going from Samrala towards their village. Samrala police officials said the bus of Rajdhani Travels was going from Muktsar to Mohali and its driver has been identified as Malkiat Singh, resident of Jassoana in Muktsar district. A case under Sections 279, 304A and 427 of the IPC has been registered against the bus driver and the police are making efforts to arrest him. Meanwhile, post-mortem of the bodies of the accident victims was conducted at the Civil Hospital and the bodies were handed over to the family for cremation. — OC Neighbour rapes 13-yr-old Man murdered over financial dispute girl for 3 months, arrested Our Correspondent Our Correspondent Ludhiana, May 15 The police have arrested a youth, Mohit Kumar, resident of GK Estate, Gopal Nagar, under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl living in the neighbourhood. In a report lodged with the police, the victim said Mohit Kumar used to visit her residence when she was alone and used to rape her by threatening her. “This had been going on for almost three months,” she added. The girl said Mohit Kumar had threatened to kill her if she tells about this to her parents or anybody else. “It was on Saturday that when our daughter complained of bellyache that we took her to the Civil Hospital and she told us about the rape after examination by doctors,” said the parents of the girl. Further investigation into the matter is in progress. Ludhiana, May 15 Akhilesh Kumar (42), a tenant in the house of Puja Rani in Beantpura on Chandigarh Road, was allegedly murdered by another tenant in the same building, identified as Neeraj Saini. The assailant grappled with the victim after exchange of words over a financial dispute on May 11 and hit his head on the ground. Akhilesh sustained severe head injury and died during treatment at CMC Hospital on Saturday. In a complaint lodged with the police by Shobhit Oberoi in this regard, it was stated that the landlady was putting pressure on Akhilesh to vacate the house. “On May 11, I accompanied Akhilesh to pick up his household goods for shifting to another house. When Akhilesh asked about some missing items, he was told that these were lying in the portion rented by Neeraj Saini, who was called to the spot,” said the complainant. He told the police that on arrival, Neeraj asked Akhilesh for money that he owed to him. Denying that he owed any money to Neeraj, Akhilesh asked him if he had any bill or other documents to sub- stantiate his claim, which led to to exchange of hot words. In a fury, Neeraj held head of the victim in his hands and hit it on the ground. While critically injured Akhilesh was rushed to the hospital, Neeraj Saini fled from the scene. The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and a hunt has been launched to apprehend the assailant.
