Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Gurpreet Singh Toor said Pancham had more than 10 cases registered against him and was a notorious gangster of the Doaba belt. He said Pancham was wanted by the police in the Gopal Nagar firing incident that took place on April 14. Toor said Pancham had been booked in the case on April 15. The DC said a drive against illegal colonies had been launched in the district wherein stringent action was being taken against such offenders.
