The suspect fell while trying to escape with stolen material on his motorcycle. Factory workers overpowered the suspect and handed him over to the police. A case under Section 379 and 411 of the IPC has been registered on a complaint lodged by factory owner Deepak Sharma, a resident of Lachman Nagar, Giaspura. The incident took place when the lone occupant, Sawinder Kaur, had gone to a nearby gurdwara to pay obeisance. Three men and a woman, riding two motorcycles, snatched gold earrings of an old woman, Kashmir Kaur (67), when the victim was walking around her residence in Jasdev Singh Nagar colony on Saturday. In yet another incident, three motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a gold pendant from Raseet, a resident of Nagra village, at sword point and fled from the spot. STF arrests two drug peddlers Ludhiana, June 12 A team of the Special Task Force (STF), headed by incharge Ludhiana (Range) Inspector Harbans Singh, arrested Vikas Kumar, a resident of Azad Nagar, Daba road, with 210 gm of heroin. The suspect was nabbed while he was going to deliver the contraband to his customers on his scooter. After getting a tip-off, the STF members arrested the drug peddler from the LoharaGill road on Saturday. A case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered. The civic body is considering to get a detailed project report prepared for the installation of the tower. Additional Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said they were planning to install an air purification tower in the city on the lines of a tower installed in Chandigarh. The minister said this project was going to be a game changer in providing uninterrupted power supply as the power utility contemplated more monopole-based transmission lines in the state. He said the project would directly benefit the areas falling under Chaura Bazaar, Nurewal and Hambra substations with 66kV GT Road substation now getting power supply from two sources, thereby easing the overburdened substation. It is expected to be completed by July 15. Reiterating the state government’s commitment to provide uninterrupted power supply to industries, he asserted that these new projects would provide more reliability to power supply in the industrial hub. He also inspected ‘hotline maintenance techniques’ on the live energised 220kV transmission system at the sub-station.
