With the arrest of the suspects, the police said at least six cases of snatching had been solved while preliminary interrogation indicated involvement of these snatchers in over 10 cases of loot and snatching. Giving more information, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) said the suspects were arrested on a tip-off from 100-Feet Road near Sahibana Puli here today. Ludhiana, June 13 In a tragic incident, a oneyear-old girl, Shanaya, was killed after being run over by a car here last evening. The girl, accompanied by her seven-year-old brother, Ritesh, had gone to buy toffees from a shop located near her house in Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar. According to eyewitnesses, the girl stumbled and fell in front of the stationary car while crossing the street. While her brother was trying to pick the girl, the driver suddenly moved the vehicle. It is being stated that the car driver was talking to someone on his mobile phone and did not notice the girl and her brother, who were in front of the vehicle. Onlookers and area residents overpowered the car driver, identified as Rahul, a resident of Dugri. The Punjab Government is all set to launch mohalla clinics in the state on August 15. In the first phase, nonfunctional sewa kendras will be converted into mohalla clinics. It has been suggested to form a cluster of five to six adjoining villages by establishing a mohalla clinic at a central location, which would be easily accessible to all. The district administration has prepared a list of 14 defunct sewa kendras, which are proposed to be converted into mohalla clinics. As many as 59 patients are in home isolation, while four are admitted to hospitals. A total of 1,10,019 persons have tested positive for the virus so far, while 2,282 patients have succumbed to the virus till now. Samples of 1,845 suspected patients were sent for testing today, the results of which are expected shortly.
