The victim has been identified as Mandeep Singh, alias Laddi. His mother, Balbir Kaur, said on July 14, Mandeep left home along with Yash, but didn’t return. She alleged that Yash had murdered her son. Sources said the police detained Yash and were interrogating him. TNS TWO WOMEN HELD FOR THEFT Chandigarh: The police on Sunday arrested two women on the charge of stealing computers and batteries of cleaning machines from the Command Hospital here. The accused, identified as Geeta and Meeto, are residents of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, here. The police said a complaint had been received from the Command Hospital authorities about a theft on July 23. The police said when they signalled the ambulance to stop last evening, the smugglers pretended to be heading towards a hospital. One of them was lying on a stretcher, posing as a patient. When the police noticed there were no oxygen cylinder and first aid kit in the ambulance, they thoroughly searched the vehicle. They found 8 kg of opium concealed inside the pillow placed under the ‘patient’s’ head. The gang members said they had smuggled about 10 kg of opium each 10 times using the same modus operandi, said the police. The police have registered 211 FIRs and arrested 307 suspects. The child suffered a head injury and an abrasion on the arm. The parents have not even submitted the child’s transfer certificate. The child is being taught in the school just like other students,” she said.
