The NHAI officials said the night shift work had already been started at the project site. They said more machines had been deployed on the project site. Project Director KL Sachdeva said the Elevated Road project work was going on in full swing. “To inspect the night shift work of Elevated Road here, Regional Officer Vipnesh Sharma visited the site last night. We have directed the contractor concerned to further escalate the project work,” he said. The NHAI officials said the night-shift labourers were continued on page 2 Work to relay athletics track at Guru Nanak Stadium to start soon Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 8 The Municipal Corporation (MC) is going to start the works to relay the athletics track and construct the indoor basketball court at Guru Nanak Stadium soon. MC Commissioner Shena Aggarwal and MLA Gurpreet Gogi shared the information with representatives of sports associations here on Wednesday. Gogi said a visit to the site was scheduled with an aim to incorporating suggestions of the sports associations before starting the civil works. The MLA also directed officials to constitute a committee, including MC officials and representatives of the sports associations, to monitor the works. Stating this here today, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the main purpose of the meeting was to promote cultivation of water-saving crops, by reducing the area under wheat paddy, and other agricultural allied occupations. Dhaliwal said there would be a direct dialogue between the government and farmers to make the new agricultural policy of the state. During the meeting, progressive farmers from across the state would give their suggestions directly to the Chief Minister and discussions would be held through open dialogue between the administration, departments, agricultural research institutes and farmers. He said it would help to chalk out plans for diversifying the state’s agriculture, making it profitable, besides carrying out agricultural reforms. He said the exhibitions would be full of information to guide the farmers.
