TNS Chandigarh, March 26 After years of struggle by the Faculty Association of the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), a decision on the implementation of rotatory headship is expected to be taken in the first week of April. Sources say the committee constituted to consider the proposal has recommended the applicability of this system for well-established institutions such as AIIMS, Delhi, and the PGI and will most likely be given the green light. Rotatory headship is a system of appointing the head of an institution on a rotation basis among faculty members. It is aimed at ensuring accountability, shared responsibility, cooperative work culture and promoting equality within the institution. The Faculty Association has been demanding the implementation of this system for over a decade. The committee comprises experts from various fields, including NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul; former PGI directors Dr KK Talwar and Dr Jagat Ram; former AIIMSDelhi director Dr MC Misra; former ICMR DG and JIPMER president Dr VM Katoch; and IIT-Kanpur director Dr Abhay Karandikar. Once approved, the system is expected to improve the functioning of the premier institute and ensure equal opportunities for faculty. Complainant Gorakh Nath Gupta, a resident of Milk Colony, reported that he had gone to withdraw money from an SBI ATM at Dhanas village. He said there was some issue in the machine following which two boys standing in the ATM offered to help him out. The suspects, on the pretext of helping the complainant, managed to see his PIN and swapped his debit card. The complainant came to know about the fraud after messages of money being withdrawn from different ATMs were received on his mobile phone. The suspects also used the card for shopping. A total of Rs 1.44 lakh was siphoned off from the complainant’s bank account. The police were informed about the incident following which a case was registered at the Sarangpur police station. — TNS Sandeep Rana Tribune News Service Chandigarh, March 26 It has emerged that parking contractor Anil Kumar Sharma, prime accused in the Rs 1.65crore fake bank guarantee scam, has links to the ruling BJP He . was arrested from Delhi. The former BJP treasurer of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk zila also owes Rs 7 crore in parking dues to the UT MC. Sharma’s Facebook account says he works with the BJP and bears the party’s banner with his and senior party leaders’ images as cover picture. He had been sharing pictures of various party activities till December 16, 2022. Sharing Sharma’s pictures and FB account page, AAP coincharge Pardeep Chhabra said: “In the Rs 7-crore parking case, the main accused is ruling BJP’s office-bearer. This is why the matter is being buried under the carpet. A CBI probe should be ordered.
