The police said the suspect had been identified as Jasvir Singh, alias Jassa, a resident of Kangiwal village falling under the Sadar Jamsher police station. Pala Ram complained to the police that he was returning from Talwan village on his cycle when two persons riding a motorcycle waylaid him near a religious place in Kandola Kalan village and snatched his mobile phone. He said that he raised the alarm and residents chased the criminals and overcrowded one of them. The police said a case under Section 379-B of the IPC had been registered against the suspect and his associate identified as Balprit Singh who is absconding. The police said that the accused had been identified as Jatinder Singh, a resident of Nawanpind Jattan village. He was wanted in a drug peddling case. OC Jalandhar, April 29 The JEE (Main) results were declared today afternoon, bringing cheer to students. The top three position holders from the district are Siddharth Miglani (AIR 307), Deenank Sharma (AIR 655) and Amritpal Singh (AIR 815). Interestingly, these toppers are into sports apart from being academically inclined and didn’t take any pressure to perform well in JEE Advanced too. In her statement to the police, the victim, a mother of two children, alleged that the elder son of her neighbour identified as Happy (33) had been stalking her and making objectionable comments about her. The woman said she had moved here around two years ago. "Since the time I came here, I have been harassed. Happy is a drug addict. Kapurthala, April 29 In a major achievement, Kapurthala district procured 3,26,950 MT of wheat till Friday, crossing the target of 3,15,372 MT fixed for the current season. Hailing the role of farmers in making a great contribution towards wheat production, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh sarangal said “it is a matter of pride that kapurthala has broken the previous record of wheat procurement”. On April 28 last year, 3,01,912 MT of wheat was procured; but this time, the procurement has been more than 25,000 MT. Besides, nearly 16,000 to 17,000 MT wheat arrival in mandis has been recorded in last days of April. Sarangal said during the current season it was ensured A whopping ~620 crore has been credited in farmers’ bank accounts, and 2,65,444 LMT has been lifted in 42 mandis in Kapurthala so far. that farmers would get payment of procured wheat in 48 hours of purchase and Rs 620 crore has been paid to them. The DC said the lifting was going on smoothly across all 42 mandis in the district; 2,65,444 LMT has been lifted so far. — OC Phagwara, April 29 Tension prevailed in Mohalla Gobindpura when the news of an alleged telecast of an obscene film by a teacher in the classroom spread like wildfire. Irate residents and parents of the students raised the alarm and rushed to the school. They then went to the Satnampura police station to register their protest against the teacher. SP Mukhtiar Rai pacified the protesters and later on the basis of a complaint lodged by a Gobindpura resident, Paramjit Kumar, the police arrested the teacher under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the IPC.
