They passed indecent comments at girls and when their kin intervened, the suspects thrashed them and also damaged their Toyota Fortuner vehicle. The suspects snatched a mobile phone, a silver bracelet and three gold chains from the victims and fled. Snatch mobile, gold jewellery, damage SUV; two nabbed The victims raised the alarm and informed the police. Officials from the Kotwali police station reached the scene and after conducting raids, arrested two of the suspects. The nabbed duo have been identified as Ishwar Singh, a resident of Baba Sen Bhagat Colony, and Kunal Mehar of Sardar Nagar, Sekhewal. The police also booked eight unidentified suspects and started raids to nab them. The complainant, Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Threeke village, told the police that he, along with his brother and four continued on page 2 We reversed trend of industry migration from state: Kejriwal Nitin Jain Tribune News Service Ludhiana, September 15 Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal on Friday claimed that Punjab has reversed the trend of industry migration with a large number of industries from other states shifting for setting up their ventures here. Addressing industrialists during Sarkar-Sanatkar Milni (government-industrialists’ meet) here, Kejriwal said 450 industries from other states have shifted their operations to Punjab during the past few months. “This is contrary to the earlier trend when Punjab was witnessing exodus of industry to other states,” he said while patting the back of his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann for making the state a front-runner in every sphere. Batting for constituting sector-specific task forces for giving a fillip to the industrial growth, Kejriwal said besides representatives of the industry, the task forces must also have on board officers of the state government for planning and executing strategy to boost growth of each sector. He envisioned that it would be helpful in ensuring comprehensive growth of the industry in the state. He said investment worth Rs 50,840 crore had been roped in for the state with big industrial tycoons coming up to make huge investments. “It will provide employment to 2.25 lakh youth,” he said. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora listed out main demands and issues being faced by local industrialists and urged the state government to take necessary action to resolve the same. “Most of our issues were settled on the spot while a few, which required further deliberations, were assured to be taken up on a priority basis shortly,” Arora told The Tribune. Taking part in the SarkarSanatkar Milni, Kamal Oswal from Oswal Group said he had never seen such a decisive government in his life that addresses grievances of the industry swiftly. He said the Mann government was taking revolutionary steps by creating an industry-friendly environment in the state, the results of which would be visible on the ground soon. Amit Thapar of Ganga Acrowools Limited appreciated steps taken by the government to further give a push to the growth of the state industries through the Invest Punjab portal, adding that industrialists were getting all required clearances online and there was no need to visit government offices. Sachit Jain of Vardhman Group praised the decisions taken by the state government to promote the industry. He also urged the government to further strengthen the basic infrastructure in focal points. Aditya Munjal from Hero Group said innovative steps taken by the state government were bolstering the confidence of the common man as well as industrialists in the state. Ludhiana-based industrialist Iqbal Singh said he was facing trouble in getting the NOC from the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA). But when he lodged a complaint about the same on the WhatsApp number of the state government, the matter was resolved in a day and the NOC was issued to him on Sunday itself. continued on page 2 Tricksters dupe realtor of ~ 1.5L, gold; 3 booked Ludhiana, September 15 A gang of tricksters allegedly targeted an elderly property dealer staying in Baba Deep Singh Nagar by hypnotising him. The gang looted 4.5 tola of gold ornaments and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from the man. Victim Harcharan Singh (65) said when he was returning home from market yesterday, a person disguised as a saint stopped him and asked about the way to Gurdwara Manji Sahib. As part of the conspiracy, two persons on a motorcycle, including a woman, stopped their vehicle near him. “The duo said the saint was powerful and his blessings could help people in achieving anything. The alleged saint then made a flower with a 500 currency note and while giving it to me, he asked to bring illegal money or valuables lying at home. When I took the note in my hands, I rushed to my house and took Rs 1.5 lakh, 4.5 tola of gold ornaments and gave them to the fake saint,” he said. When the victim handed over the same to him, he regained consciousness and held the suspect tightly but they pushed him away and fled. Sources said the police got the CCTV footage of the suspects and launched a probe to identify them. A case has been registered against the suspects. — TNS
