Family members protested PHAGWARA, SEPTEMBER 10 The police have arrested two persons for their involvement in running an illegal deaddiction centre at Koharr Kalan village of Shahkot. DSP Onkar Singh Brar said the accused had been identified as Amardeep Singh, a resident of Mohalla Dashmesh Nagar, Moga, and Jaskaran, a resident of Mohalla Vishwakarma Nagar, Moga. Ranjit Kaur, superintendent (grade 2) in the office of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner, forwarded a complaint to the Shahkot Sub-Division- inspection, it was found that 17 persons were kept as prisoners in a hall. Brar said the patients admitted at the centre were kept illegally only with a motive to earn money. The DSP said 17 patients were shifted temporarily to the de-addiction centre at the Jalandhar Civil Hospital in an ambulance for treatment and care. Koharr Kalan centre was vacated and locked. A case has been registered against the accused and Sarabjit, alias Nikka Singh, a resident and presently living at Koharr Kalan village, which is absconding. Jalandhar, September 10 An FIR has been registered against a Pakistani hacker following a complaint by Yogesh Suri, a scribe in the city who operates a web channel. The Cyber Crime Cell under the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police took action after the channel’s official Facebook page was hacked. According to Suri, a complaint was submitted to the police on July 12. Following a probe, it was revealed that the hacker, identified as Shaharyar Khan from Pakistan, was responsible for the breach. The Cyber Crime Cell traced the hacker through the IP address, email ID and phone number linked to the hacked page. — TNS Day2: Doctors’ strike continues plained to the police that his nephew Akash (19) and his girlfriend Puja were going to Nakodar to pay obeisance at a Dera on September 9. Three individuals, including two juveniles, were arrested and recovered motorcycles, mobile phones and weapons. According to Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, Motorcycle, mobile phones recovered, weapons seized the arrests were made after the police received a tip-off about a gang’s movement near village Pholriwal. The informer revealed that the group was planning a major crime near the South City area. The police swiftly apprehended the suspects. The arrested individuals included two juveniles and the third person has been identified as Saurav, alias Sonu, from Alipur. The police confiscated two motorcycles, five mobile phones, a datar (sharp weapon) and a khanda from the suspects. An FIR under Sections 304(2) and 317(2), 3(5) BNS has been registered at Police Station Sadar, Jalandhar, in connection with the case. Commissioner Sharma stated that no prior criminal records had been found for the accused so far, but further investigations were ongoing. He emphasised the Jalandhar police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against crime, ensuring the safety and security of the city’s residents. But, I will also appeal to the victims to let go of the belongings, and nothing is more important than your own life,” says Kusum, whose bravery made her famous everywhere when she put up a spirited fight against two bike-borne assailants, who tried to snatch her mobile phone in a Jalandhar street more than three years ago. Two days ago, a Class XII student was dragged along the road for nearly 350 metres by snatchers on a bike, who took away her mobile phone, leaving her injured and traumatised. In a shocking incident on Monday night, thieves targeted the Shiva temple in Ghas Mandi, located in the Basti area, making off with offerings and valuables. The thieves, who gained entry through the roof, looted the temple’s donation boxes and escaped undetected. Meanwhile, police officials from Division Number 5 said they had taken the CCTV footage in their possession for further inquiry and an investigation was underway. 1kg heroin, ~4 lakh seized from peddler Jalandhar, September 10 A CIA staff team of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested a man for drug smuggling from the posh Green Park area here and recovered 1 kg of heroin and Rs 4 lakh cash. The accused, identified as Shinda Singh, hails from Bhangowala village in Ferozepur. The police have registered a case against him under Section 21(C) and 61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are now interrogating him to uncover the source of heroin and details about his drug trafficking network. The arrest followed a tip-off that Singh had been spotted in the Green Park area. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap and conducted a raid. Singh was caught with the contraband and the cash during the operation. CIA in-charge Surinder Singh confirmed his arrest and the recovery, saying further investigation in the case was underway and they were focusing on identifying how much heroin Singh had trafficked so far and where his supplies were distributed. — TNS
