Complainant Vijay Kumar, a resident of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, alleged that the accused had hatched a conspiracy to dupe him. They convinced him to invest in the share market and assured huge profits. They made him buy shares online through an app. After buying the shares, he realised that he invested the money on a fake platform. Kumar said he lodged a complaint and a case was registered at the Moti Nagar police station. Notably, the Ludhiana police had busted a racket of running a fake share market app in which people were duped of crores. Several persons were arrested by the Ludhiana police. After the incident, the police had made appeals to the people to avoid investing in unauthorised platform and ensure proper verification of the investment firm. Tribune News Service Ludhiana, September 15 A resident of Shingar Road has been booked for duping a man of Rs 50 lakh and valuables in the name of opening a software company and investing in it. The accused has been identified as Rohan Bhatia. Complainant Babneet Kaur, daughter of the victim, of Chandigarh Road told the police that the accused took Rs 50 lakh an AC, LED, two laptops, two Apple Macbook and a Chinese phone from her father for opening a soft- ware company. Later, when she demanded the money and goods, he started making excuses. The daughter of the victim alleged that when she demanded the money and goods, the accused made her drink some intoxicating substance and clicked her objectionable photographs and began blackmailing her. The accused also threatened to make the photos viral on social media and kill her family members, she added. The police have registered a case in this regard. District records 60 dengue cases, 2 suspected deaths Manav Mander Tribune News Service Ludhiana, September 15 In Ludhiana, 60 confirmed cases of dengue and two suspected deaths have been reported from the district so far. The department has asked the people to adopt precautionary measures and not let water accumulate in and around their houses. Every Friday should be observed as ‘dry day’, when flower pots, air coolers and refrigerator trays etc. should be emptied and dried so that water does not gets accumulated. The Health Department is holding awareness seminars at various places, including schools, to sensitise people about the spread of vectorborne diseases. In addition to this, multi-purpose health workers and breeding checkers are working roundthe-clock. They are checking suspected breeding places and destroying larvae wherever found. On Friday, mosquito larvae were found at 13 places at the PWD office during the inspection by the malaria wing’s team of the Health Health officials check mosquito breeding at PWD office. A huge pile of trash, including plastic waste, can be seen been dumped into the nullah thus blocking the drain. The drain overflows in just one spell of rain, making the life of people living nearby a living hell. The small bridge behind the Hotel City Heart is in a shambles, giving an open invitation to mishaps. Apart from residential dwellings, a huge market, especially the wholesale cloth market, is located at Bhadaur House and traders from northern states come here for business. However, auto drivers have been violating these rules with impunity. The instructions were issued by the police in March this year. Several meeting were also held between the traffic police officials and auto-rickshaw unions for effective implementation of the orders. The issue of identification of auto drivers had assumed importance follwing the recent grenade attack in Chandigarh, in which two suspects had come in a auto-rickshaw and fled in the same vehicle. Notably, the purpose of these orders was to ensure that no auto driver can hide his identity and in case of any crime, he can be identified. Reportedly, several autos are plying on the city roads bearing fake registration numbers. Auto-rickshaws being plied without name, number plate, address and phone number on city roads.
