Joshi further recommended a comprehensive forensic audit of all bank accounts, financial transactions and investments of the CSCL since its inception, to be conducted by a reputed independent third-party auditing agency, in order to ensure transparency and restore public confidence. He also emphasised that the departmental inquiry already initiated must be completed on continued on page 2 Speeding Audi runs over Turkish national in Zirakpur Tribune News Service Zirakpur, March 10 A Turkish national died while her friend was injured after being hit by a speeding Audi car while crossing the VIP Road here late on Monday. The accident occurred around midnight in front of AmCare Hospital. According CCTV footage being scanned as cops hunt for driver to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Mavluda, was returning with her friend after meeting a patient at the hospital. While crossing the road, a speeding Audi car allegedly hit her, throwing her to the other side of the road. She suffered serious injuries and reportedly died on the spot. Abhishek, alias Abhi, who was with her at the time of the incident, said the vic- c m y b tim was his friend and she had come to the hospital to inquire about the health of his pregnant wife. When they reached the main road outside the hospital, the Audi hit them. Abhishek also sustained minor injuries in the accident. P3 LPG bookings surge in Tricity as commercial supply tightens Restaurants feel heat |No impact on petrol, diesel supply yet Aanavi Singh Arya Chandigarh, March 10 The Tricity has begun to feel the first signs of a fuel pinch amid the ongoing Iran conflict, with the supply of commercial LPG cylinders coming under pressure even as petrol and diesel supplies remain normal for now. Residents and authorities fear the situation could worsen if tensions in West Asia persist. Though filling stations across the Tricity are not seeing any disruption in supplies from nearby plants, officials said gas bookings had shot up sharply after the Centre mandated a change in booking rules for domestic LPG cylinders, increasing the gap from 21 days to 25 days. In Mohali, 32 gas agencies have reported a nearly 100 per cent spike in domestic LPG cylinder bookings. The Centre has prioritised domestic LPG supply over commercial cylinders, leaving oil marketing companies to ration the supply of commercial LPG. Hoteliers, eateries, hospitals continued on page 2
The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
