According to a complaint filed by Pramod Kumar of village Sechan Da Aadmowal, the accused took ~7 lakh from him for a plot deal but failed to execute the registry. The police said a case was registered following an inquiry and further investigation is underway. OC VISA FRAUD: MAN DUPED OF ~19.5L Hoshiarpur: The police have registered a fraud case against Ashok Kumar of Roop Nagar, Hoshiarpur, for allegedly duping a man of ~19.5 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. Complainant Daljit Singh of Bhungarni alleged that the accused promised to send him abroad via Poland to Canada but he neither fulfilled the promise, nor returned the money. A fake work permit was also allegedly provided. oc TWO HELD WITH INTOXICANTS Hoshiarpur: The Mahilpur police arrested two persons during checking and recovered 80 intoxicating tablets from their possession. Aspiring to pursue a career in the medical field, Ishleen is the daughter of Mandeep Singh Dogra, a businessman, and Gunveen Kaur, a homemaker. Following closely, Hemang Arora of Swami Sant Dass Public School and Ayaana Arora of Cambridge Innovative School jointly secured the second position in the district with a near perfect score of 499 out of 500 marks each. Employee leaders detained ahead of CM’s Tanda visit Our Correspondent Talwara, April 15 Several employee leaders associated with the Old Pension Restoration Sangharsh Committee and CPF Union Punjab were allegedly detained and placed under house arrest ahead of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Tanda. According to union sources, state convener Jasvir Talwara was confined to his residence, while other key leaders were taken into police custody and lodged at different police stations across the district. The unions had announced plans to show black flags to the Chief Minister as part of their protest demanding restoration of the old pension scheme. Pritpal Singh Chautala, Sanjeev Dhut, Prince Palyal (Garhdiwala), Amar Singh and Sarabjit Singh were detained and shifted to police stations in Garhdiwala, Bhunga and Tanda. The action was reportedly taken in the wake of the union’s call for black flag protests during the Chief Minister’s visit. Union representatives alleged that Jasvir Talwara is routinely placed under house arrest during such visits, preventing him from participating in peaceful demonstrations. Following the action, employee leaders and members gathered outside Talwara police station and staged a protest, demanding the immediate release of those detained. Protesters accused the police of curbing democratic rights and attempting to suppress the voice of employees. The devotees were returning after paying obeisance at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, a prominent religious site associated with Guru Ravidas, where they had attended Baisakhi function. According to information, around 30 devotees from village Bhamarsi Zira in Fatehgarh Sahib district were travelling in Pik-Up vehicle (PB-11 AH-8280), driven by Balwinder Singh. While returning to their village, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a hilly stretch at Shahpur Ghat, causing it to overturn. Jalandhar, April 15 Forty years since Baldev Singh Littran of Nakodar has been seeking justice for the brutal killing of his son Ravinder Singh and three other youths of Nakodar, he has said he is still not sure if the discussion on the matter in the special session of the Vidhan Sabha on Monday would ultimately help bring any accountability on the issue. Littran has said, “On February 4 this year, I made the last appeal to the government to seek justice for the four youths who had been killed while they were peacefully holding protest in the town against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in 1986. The police had gunned them down from a close range and even cremated their bodies. No action has been takem against the perpetrators of the crime. This government had Ravinder Singh, Harminder Singh, Baldhir Singh and Jhilman Singh had been killed during a protest against the sacrilege. also not done anything for four years. It had got an extension of three months. A further extension of six months was granted. Nakodar AAP MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann too had taken up the issue strongly. She had apprised the House of the whole incident again while also taking names of the officials who were reportedly involved in the firing incident. She had told the House that the parents of the youths were so agitated against the ruling dispensation at that time that they had even refused to take the ashes of their mortal remains of their sons.
