The legislation targets the five largest buyers of Russian oil — India, China, Slovakia, Hungary and Azerbaijan — while exempting 15 European countries that continue to import Russian natural gas. The government has already decided to continue the ban on the film's online streaming, citing concerns related to national security and public safety. Top government sources said the authorities were examining possible amendments to the Information Technology Act, 2000, to make certification of OTT content mandatory before it is made available on streaming platforms. The sources said ‘Satluj’ was still under consideration by the Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) and several cuts had been suggested in the film. However, OTT content currently does not fall under the purview of the CBFC. The film was taken down from ZEE5 two days after its release on July 3, following a government order that cited national security concerns. continued on page 8 (ED) summoned his Tribune News Service wife and two sons in New Delhi, July 15 connection with the In a major jolt to municipal recruitMamata Banerjee, ment scam. her close aide and Reacting sharply to Trinamool Congress the development, (TMC) MLA Madan Madan Mitra TMC MP Mahua Mitra on Wednesday joined Moitra took a swipe at the the rebel faction led by Rita- senior leader’s decision to brata Banerjee, a day after join the rebel faction, alleging continued on page 8 the Enforcement Directorate Rinku Behera c m y b SPAIN IN FINAL Spain reached the World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over France in Texas (US), thanks to goals from Pedro Porro and Mikel Oyarzabal FINAL in New Jersey (US) on July 20 | 12.30 am (IST) PEDRO PORRO 2nd time Spain will play in the World Cup final 2010 the last time they reached the final, defeated Netherlands 1-0 in extra time 37-match unbeaten streak since March 2024 4 TIMES Spain have won European Championships while losing the final only once KYLIAN MBAPPE Spain’s defensive discipline proved too much for France team led by Kylian Mbappe No decision: Sule amid signs of party backing delimitation Bill Aditi Tandon Tribune News Service New Delhi, July 15 The debate over the pending Constitution 131st Amendment Bill that links women’s reservation in politics to delimitation took a fresh turn on Wednesday amid signs that Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) may back it in the upcoming monsoon session. Though NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule was quick to dismiss the talk of her party supporting the Bill, which is yet to be made public, the Congress did not appear amused. In fact, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram openly said late on Tuesday that the BJP was wooing the NCP (SP) and even the DMK for support to the controversial draft legislation that the government plans to pilot in the monsoon ses- NDA EYES TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY IN LOK SABHA 360 299 The number of MPs NDA needs in the Lok Sabha for two-thirds majority MPs the NDA currently has, including six of the Shiv Sena (UBT) who have declared they’ll join Shinde's Sena faction MPs of the rebel TMC faction have joined the NCPI and will back the NDA; the YSRCP has four 20 sion of Parliament commencing from Monday. “Any support to the new version of the failed Bill will be a betrayal of the NCP (SP) and DMK’s own conscience that guided them earlier,” said Chidambaram, indicating divisions within the Opposition INDIA bloc on approach to the Bill that promises to raise current Lok Sabha seat strength of every state by 50 per cent to make way for 33 per cent women’s quota in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies by the 2029 General Election. That the government is working to garner the numbers (a Constitution amendment Bill must be passed by two-thirds of the MPs present and voting) is no secret. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already said during the April special session when the Bill was defeated by the Opposition that he was willing to make changes to assure everyone that no state would lose seats due to delimitation and southern states would indeed gain. The government leaders are working to redo the old draft to make it more acceptable. As for the numbers, the two-thirds mark in the 543-member Lok continued on page 8
