Maati, a six-song independent collection, dropped on August 28 via Shekhar's Garuda Music, with Piyarva leading as the first track. The idea took root nearly twelve years back when the two were unwinding at a coffee shop after a studio session on a rainy afternoon. A conversation about making something purely their own, free of commercial expectations, eventually became Maati. Each of the six songs has been envisioned as a raindrop, every track a separate drop forming the larger whole. "There are songs that you write and release immediately, and then there are songs that quietly stay with you, waiting for the right moment. Piyarva was one of those songs," Swanand said. This is their first independent collaboration, with Swanand handling lyrics and vocals and Shekhar the music.
