The State Election Commission on Thursday announced the reservation of wards for the upcoming MC elections, scheduled to be held towards the end of the year. The reservations were decided through a draw of lots held at the UT Guest House in the presence of representatives of political parties. Wards 1, 3, 4, 9, 15, 29 and 32 have been reserved for SC candidates based on the highest percentage of SC population, as recorded in the Party members with Vijay Dev, Chief Election Officer, after a draw of lots for reservation of wards at the UT Guest House. Of these, Wards 3, 29 and 32 have been reserved for SC women. Following the rotation policy, General: Wards 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 31, 33, 34, 35 the seven wards reserved for SC candidates in the 2021 MC elections were excluded from the draw. These were Wards 7, c m y b 16, 19, 24, 26, 28 and 31. A total of 12 wards have been reserved for women, while three are reserved for SC women. Nine of these — Wards 2, 8, 11, 13, 17, 21, 25, 26 and 30 — have been reserved for women in the general category. The remaining 19 wards — 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 31, 33, 34 and 35 — have been declared general wards. The wards reserved for women in the 2021 elections were also excluded from the draw. The reservation has affected the electoral prospects of several sitting councillors, who will now have to seek ticket from other wards. In its supplementary chargesheet filed before the CBI court here on Friday, the agency has alleged that Sri- Probe traces alleged fraud to opening of IDFC First Bank account vastava, who had served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CREST, was involved in activities ranging from the opening of bank accounts to carrying out alleged fraudulent transactions. The CBI has also submitted documents in support of its allegations.
