The bag contained cash, a mobile phone, godown keys and a notebook containing the shop’s accounts. Complainant Vandana, a resident of Janta Nagar, said the incident took place at 9.05 pm on September 26. She was travelling with her employee on a scooter when the incident took place near Gill Road. The suspects overtook their scooter and blocked their way with their motorcycle. The victims were forced to halt, following which one of the suspects pulled out a sharp weapon and threw chilli powder into their eyes before snatching the bag and fleeing from there. Vandana said they could not note the motorcycle’s registration number due to the pain caused by the chilli powder. The city police are trying to identify the suspects by examining the footage of the close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed near the incident spot. Ludhiana, September 28 The 13-day Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra of the BJP will reach Ludhiana on Tuesday. However, even as preparations are underway for the yatra, the local BJP leadership is largely focused on mobilising the public for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Jalandhar on September 30. The 13-day yatra aimed at mobilising people against the drug menace. Meanwhile, local BJP leaders have gone to other districts to mobilise the public for the Shah’s Jalandhar event. A shopkeeper on Malhar Road said it took him 45 minutes to reach his shop from his residence in BRS Nagar. Ludhiana, September 28 The police have arrested a man after recovering a .32bore pistol and two live rounds from his possession. Acting under a special campaign being run by the state government and the police against gangsters , a team of the CIA staff apprehended the accused during patrolling in an area under the jurisdiction of the Division 5 police. The police identified the accused as Anmol (24), a resident of Sham Nagar. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the accused failed to produce any legal document or licence for the weapon. Bhatti said a case was registered under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. The accused was produced in a court, which sent him to twoday police custody. “During questioning, the accused may reveal the reason he was carrying an illegal weapon. Thereafter, it will proceed to Isa Nagar Puli Chowk in the Ludhiana Central Assembly constituency, where Tiwari, Bittu and HS Phoolka will address party workers. The police said they allegedly intended to sell the child to some buyers, whose identity is yet to be established. The baby was traced within five hours of the crime on Sunday and handed over to the family, the police added. The infant, Aryan, was kidnapped from Chandar Nagar in Haibowal around 6 pm. The police said the child was kidnapped by his paternal aunt, along with an accomplice. The accused have been identified as Mamta and Vivek, both residents of Jalandhar. He was rescued by an elderly man, who had to hit the dog with a stick. The police have registered a case against the dog’s owners following the incident. The incident took place on September 26. The injured has been identified as Arpit Agarwal, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Daba Lohara Road. According to eyewitnesses, the dog grabbed the victim’s leg and threw him down. When the victim screamed, people present on the spot tried to rescues him, but the dog remained uncontrollable. An elderly man rescued the victim from its jaws by hitting him with a stick. When a dog’s owner came outside the house, he allegedly claimed that the youth’s wounds were from an old injury. Later, Agarwal filed a complaint with the police. This is a clear violation of parking norms.” Raja Sachdeva said visitors were being forced to park their cars along the yellow line, in violation of parking norms. “The authorities are not even taking any action,” he added.
