V FIRM STAND: ALIA BHATT No sharing of opinions Actress Alia Bhatt has responded to Kangana Ranaut’s criticism regarding celebrities who don’t take a stand on political and social issues by saying that she has an opinion on matters, but she likes to keep it to herself. Kangana recently criticised actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia and Ranveer Singh for not voicing their opinions on political topics and for staying aloof from issues concerning the society at large. Commenting on this, Alia said: “I definitely don’t have that ability to speak as candidly as Kangana does and I really respect her for that. Maybe, in a way she is right that sometimes we do hold back because we don’t want to talk unnecessarily about an issue. My dad (filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt) always says that there are already so many opinions in the world, so the world can do with one less opinion. So, I have an opinion but I will keep it to myself. But kudos to her (Kangana) because she genuinely speaks really well.” On being part of Kalank, Alia said: “It has been an unbelievable journey and it is an honour to be a part of such an ensemble cast. The director of Kalank, Abhishek Verman is a very close friend of mine. I think all of us, including him, have done a lot of hard work for this film. It’s just the beginning... there will not be one dull moment until Kalank releases.” Kalank is a period drama produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. Set for release on April 19, it stars Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kunal Kemmu and Sanjay Dutt, apart from Alia. — IANS CHILDHOOD DREAM Capt Priti Sharma Capt Priti Sharma was fascinated by the olive green and the brass on the shoulders right from her childhood. DANIEL CRAIG Filmmaker Danny Boyle quit as director of the new James Bond film because top officials did not let him kill off the British Secret Service agent. Until August, Boyle was slated to write and direct the next James Bond film, but a tweet gave out that he would no longer be associated with it owing to “creative differences”. It has now emerged that the Slumdog Millionaire director wanted Daniel Craig’s character to die in the arms of returning Bond girl Lea Seydoux in the 25th spy movie Shatterhand. However, Bond boss Barbara Broccoli and Craig himself both shot down the idea. That is when Boyle quit the project, leading to a delay in the film. A source said: “Boyle thought that killing 007 would be a brilliant way to pave the way for introducing a new Bond. But when the dust settled, there was a push back from Barbara and Daniel. The feeling was that the audience should be left guessing as to the plight of their man.” True Detective fame Cary Fukunaga has taken up the directing job for the film, which will see Craig reunite with Lea and co-stars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw. Bohemian Rhapsody Oscar winner Rami Malek is in talks to play the villain. — IANS c m y b MUTHTHI MEIN KUCH SAPNE LEKAR, JEBON MEIN ASHAYEN/ DIL MEIN ARMAN YAHI KUCH KAR JAYEN, KUCH KAR JAYNE SOORAJ SA TEJ NAHI MUJH MEIN, DEEPAK SA JALTA DEKHOGE APNI HAD ROSHAN KARNE SE, TUM MUJHKO KAB TAK ROKOGE TUM MUJHKO KAB TAK ROKOGE... — CAPT PRITI SHARMA course of my life was set.” Schooling in Patna, college in Pune, it was Army next. “Women are already empowered, they don’t need any extra push.
