A passable affair this one is. mona@tribunemail.com The popular actor passed away due to kidney failure Popular TV actor Ashiesh Roy passed away on Tuesday morning around 4 am at his Mumbai residence. He was 55. Ashiesh had worked in several shows, including Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, Sasural Simar Ka, Mere Angne Mein, Baa Bahu Aur Baby, Bymokesh Bakshi, and others. Ashiesh was a popular dubbing artiste as well and has given voice to Hindi version of The Dark Knight (Health Ledger’s Joker character), Superman Returns, Man of Steel and many others. The veteran actor was suffering from kidney ailment and was admitted to hospital early this year. He had run out of money and had requested for financial help in May 2020. He had tweeted, “I’m in the ICU, very ill, dialysis. Need urgent money for dialysis.” Amit Behl, senior joint secretary of CINTAA, confirmed Ashiesh’s demise and said, “Ashiesh has passed away in his house. Director Arvind Babbal called me to inform about it.” Actress Tina Ghai also confirmed the news and said, “We are grief-stricken. We have activated the zonal heads at CINTAA. There is a problem in acquiring the death certificate too as he passed away at home.” BAFTA ventures into India The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is taking its first steps in India with the global expansion of the Breakthrough initiative. Written and composed by Vishal himself, the track is sung by Vishal Dadlani. Talking about the new track and its video, Bhardwaj says, “Interesting times can spur interesting ideas as well as reflect the current times. Mask Kho Gaya for me is that. Also collaborating with Vishal Dadlani always brings in fresh exciting energy. I hope the audience enjoys this song and draws their interpretations.” The funny and quirky music video has been animated by animator-filmmaker-illustrator duo Susruta and Saswata Mukherjee aka Bob and Bobby. Describing the video, Dadlani says, “The video is very articulate. I’m deeply proud to be a part of something so relevant and necessary.”

The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
