I believe my posts and reels of the gym sessions, the silly things I do will not heal or entertain anyone. I personally feel the best way to be sensitive about a situation is to pray and hope for things to get better.” Not welcome, disappointing, unfortunate, wrong, arbitrary, restrictive, a sad day for cinema ... is how the latest move by the government on discontinuation of Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) was met with. Many a films — Joker, Lipstick Under My Burkha, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Haraamkhor, Kaalakandi, which were not cleared or faced objections by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), over a period got relief in the appellate tribunal. The new move implies that filmmakers would have to now knock the doors of the High Court for any grievance. “It’s certainly not welcome,” says director Manoj Agrawal, explaining, “As filmmakers, if any issue arises with CBFC, this tribunal was the way to go. Within a day or two of reaching out, there would be screening and whatever be the issues, it would be cleared. How could it be the same with the High Court?” “There is little time between completion of a film and censor certificate, say two to four weeks maximum; taking a date in High Court would be a big task given the time-frame that we work within,” adds this director of Waah! Tera Kya Kehna, Hadh Kar Di Aapne sequel and Pardesi Babu, who is currently busy with the sequel of Hadh Kar Di Aapne. UNAPPEALING! Many a filmmakers took to Twitter to show their displeasure and disbelief. “What the hell?! The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal has been abolished?! How does this happen overnight? Did anyone see this coming? #CBFC #FCAT,” tweeted Jai Mehta, who co-directed the hit series Scam 1992 with father Hansal Mehta. “Do the High Courts have a lot of time to address film certification grievances? How many film producers will have the means to approach the courts,” questioned Hansal Mehta, calling the move arbitrary and restrictive. Human rights activist and film-producer Sunitha Krishnan tweeted, “Really sad and disappointed that #FCAT has been abolished. Had an opportunity to access this mechanism when our feature film #Raktham was subjected to #CBFC objections. The unbiased, neutral and patient hearing was such a strengthening component.” Filmmaker and trade analyst Girish Johar hoped for a system for the entertainment industry and not the courts, “With #FCAT dissolved, maybe a larger body After the first dose of the vaccine... Actor Pankaj Tripathi feels feminism is a notion that should be instilled in boys just as strongly as girls. For that to happen, the subject must be included for all young boys by the education system. “I feel that parents put all their energies into grooming and teaching their daughters how to behave themselves but when it comes to boys, it’s not given the same importance. In today’s education, I think the Feminism as subject must be included for boys, says Pankaj Tripathi inclusion of feminism is a must for all young boys too,” Pankaj said. “Boys need to learn right from the beginning that no gender is superior or inferior. As a filmmaker, I find this move a bit restrictive. Hollywood calling... A leaf from history Web series on Leonardo Da Vinci in India ahead UK, US Aidan Turner, best known in India as Kili in The Hobbit film series, will play Leonardo Da Vinci in the web series Leonardo. The show is all set to premiere in India on April 9, ahead of its release in the UK and the US. The eight-part series will focus on the life of Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the most fascinating figures in history. Da Vinci, primarily known as an artist and painter, was also a distinguished inventor and authority in subjects such as anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, and paleontology. “To play a character like that, a historical figure, an artist, can be intimidating and quite terrifying. But I think Frank Spotnitz’s scripts focus a lot on who’s the man behind the genius and that’s what motivates him as an artist and as a person,” Turner said. “They all focused more on the kind of artist he was. Also, he wasn’t as extrovert as someone like Michelangelo (Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance age). It seemed like he was more of a private person. I suppose he had the same vulnerabilities as we all c m y b have - a young artist who wasn’t traditionally schooled and had a very fraught relationship with his parents. He was raised by his grandparents,” the actor said. He added: “As a student, he was surrounded by people who would have been educated, so you can imagine how his late teens or early 20s would have been.” The series also features Giancarlo Giannini, Freddie Highmore, James D’Arcy and Matilda De Angelis in key roles. Created by Frank Spotnitz and Steve Thompson the show drops on SonyLIV soon. — IANS Singer and songwriter Juggy D has been reportedly arrested in London for alleged domestic violence.
