INSIDE Tunnel collapse: Nine more found dead, rescue op ends Jammu, May21 Nine bodies were pulled out of the debris on Saturday, two days after a landslide hit an under-construction tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban. The rescue operation has ended. Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam said the families of the deceased would be paid a compensation of Rs 15 lakh each, as directed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The construction company has been booked. The rescuers retrieved the bodies of all 10 workers at about 7 pm. “The national highway has now been opened to traffic,” an official said. INSIDE GoI to procure moong from Punjab on MSP CHANDIGARH: The Centre has agreed to procure moong from Punjab on the minimum support price (MSP), an official spokesperson said here on Saturday. “The GoI has conveyed to the state government through a letter its approval to implement the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for procuring 4,585 MT of summer ‘moong’ in Punjab for the rabi season 2021-22,” the spokesperson said. The date of procurement will be decided by the Punjab Government. “The state government will provide a revolving fund equivalent to at least 15 per cent of the procurement cost of the sanctioned quantity and ensure that the payment is credited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers within three days of procurement,” the letter reads.
