While the BJP’s authorised agent and Haryana Education minister, Kanwar Pal Gujjar, cast the first vote, objections started to come in from BJP and JJP MLAs as soon as the first Congress vote was cast by BB Batra. Sources said the BJP and JJP raised the issue that Batra had spoken to his party’s authorised agent Vivek Bansal. The coalition leaders claimed this was not allowed while also alleging that Batra’s vote was “exposed” and seen by other parties’ agents and should be declared invalid. The BJP and JJP MLAs, accompanied continued on page 16 New Delhi, June 10 Massive protests were held across the country after Friday prayers against the alleged provocative remarks made by suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled party leader Naveen Jindal about Prophet Muhammad. Protests were staged all through the day in various cities, including Delhi, Lucknow and Ranchi. People gathered in large numbers outside the Jama Masjid in Delhi to demand Sharma’s arrest. According to the Delhi Police, the protesters were removed immediately and the situation was brought under control. In the light of possible disturbance, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had asked the police to ensure tight checks at crucial locations.
