Haven’t guessed it? Punjabi period film Television will hit the theatres this week and take the audience back to the time when community watching was a big thing. Directed by Taj, the film stars Kulwinder Billa, Mandy Takhar, Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Harby Sangha, among others. The music will be released under the banner of Saga Music and will be digitally distributed by Unisys Infosolutions Pvt Ltd. The lead actors, Kulwinder Billa and Mandy Takhar, are paired together for the first time and enjoyed filming together. The trailer of Television was showcased recently; Kulwinder says, “We had planned to release it earlier, but nobody felt like doing anything after the shocking and sad news of Sidhu Moosewala’s murder. We waited till the last rites and the prayer ceremony. But one cannot stop the industry from functioning as livelihood of many people depend on it. As for the film, I think this family entertainer will draw its own audience via word of mouth. And it’s a story that majority of the audience will relate to.” Kulwinder says his family had the old TV with a shutter, but regrets not having preserved it. As for singing, he says, “Music is my first love and it would never get compromised in pursuit of my acting career.” I don’t have any memories of the ‘old television days’, since I grew up in London. But my childhood addiction of watching television helped me relate to the character. Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who has also crooned soulful songs such as Paani Da Rang, Nazm Nazm, Saadi Galli Aaja, among other chartbusters, shared on World Music Day that people can expect some really beautiful singles coming from him in the near future. With the release date out now, Drishyam 2 will be clashing with Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekarstarrer Bheed, which is also scheduled to release on November 18. —TMS Vicky Kaushal begins preparation for Sam Bahadur Time for action Vicky Kaushal will next be seen as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in his biopic. On Tuesday (June 21), Vicky officially announced that he was beginning preparation for the film, which will be helmed by Raazi director Meghna Gulzar. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. Taking to Instagram, Vicky shared a photo of the film’s script as well as some pictures that have been provided to the actor to get into the skin of the character. Shar- ing the post, Vicky captioned it, “Here we go… Prep starts!!! #SamBahadur.” Alongside Vicky, Fatima Sana Shaikh will be seen playing the character of Indira Gandhi. A source close to the actress says, “Fatima has been reading a number of books on Indira Gandhi to understand her better and get an idea of her regime as the Prime Minister. She also has got her hands on various documentaries to get the nuances and mannerisms of her character right. Four days before Proof dropped, the group announced they would be taking a break to focus on their solo careers. The album, released June 10, is a three-disc compilation with a large majority of its content being previously released material. Proof also features three all-new tracks, including Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), which entered at number one on the Billboard’s Global-Excluding-US chart. — IANS c m y b Rashmirekha Ojha, who is known for Odia TV shows, is no more. She was 23. The actress was found hanging in her apartment in Bhubaneswar. Rashmirekha hailed from Tirtol area of Jagatsinghpur and was reportedly in a live-in relationship with a man called Santosh Patra. A case of unnatural death has been filed. Reportedly, a suicide note was found in the room and it mentioned that no one was to be blamed for her death. However, Rashmirekha’s father has pointed fingers at Santosh Patra. In a statement, Rashmirekha’s father said, “If both were married, then Santosh is the murderer. A probe should be launched and he should be jailed.” —TMS wasn’t that easy too! Ask her whether physical transformation as in Haye Ni Meri Moto or mental preparation for Television was tougher and she says, “Both require effort and hard work and as I have done both, I wouldn’t dare to say one is any less than the other.” The 90s vibe Beyonce has dropped the first single from her much-awaited seventh solo studio album Renaissance. Titled Break My Soul, the song brings together the team of Single Ladies, including Tricky Stewart and The Dream, and is already being declared a hit. The lyrics have also got everyone talking as Beyonce sings, “Release your anger, release your mind, release your job, release the time, release your trade, release the stress, release the love, forget the rest.” The writing credits include the singer’s rapper husband Jay-Z, along with Freddie Ross and Adam Pigott. Beyonce had previously announced on Thursday that her longexpected album will be arriving on July 29. The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
