Addressing a meeting of district unit chiefs, an emotional, but combative, Uddhav Thackeray today said he might have vacated ‘Varsha’, the Chief Minister’s official residence, but not the determination to fight back. “Whoever wants to leave can go, Sena loyalists will stay with me,” he said, accusing the group led by Eknath Shinde of “backstabbing” and blaming the BJP for rebellion in his party. “Why should I feel bad? Maybe their dreams have become too big. Gurugram, June 24 De-addiction pill buprenorphine, an opioid derivative habit-forming drug, has become a hit among partygoers across the NCR, mainly Gurugram. With an expanding grey market in Delhi and Punjab, the drug is becoming popular owing to its alleged cheap and easy availability. “Being an opioid, it is 25-40 times more potent and longlasting pain reliever than morphine. The drug is used worldwide for de-addiction. But we are getting patients, most of them young IT professionals, who claim to have started taking this drug as a weekend fix and are hooked on to it. Most of them claim to have got it from their friends in Punjab,” said Dr Smriti Dogra, a de-addiction and behavioural sciences expert. One of the suppliers is a data analyst by profession. He was addicted to heroin and was prescribed buprenorphine during lockdown while his stay at his home in Kapurthala. He later got hooked on to it and made his friends in Delhi try it. He said, “In Punjab, the pill is available for Rs 55 in grey market and people here are ready to pay Rs 100-200 per pill. It’s use needs to be monitored and regulated.” Nikhil Bhardwaj Tribune News Service Ludhiana, June 24 The Ludhiana police today arrested Patiala-based kabaddi player Jaskaran Singh, alias Karan (21) who allegedly received weapons from Canada-based Goldy Brar, the gangster who has owned responsibility for singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder. Karan further supplied these weapons to Ludhiana transporter Baldev Chaudhary, alias Ballu, in March this year. Ballu, a college mate of gangster Bishnoi, is already in police custody. He was arrested by the CIA-2 wing of the Ludhiana Commissionerate with two imported pistols on June 19. Sources said Ravleen Kaur Chawla (30) and her sister Ashneet Kaur (24) of Delhi had taken Hotel Himalayan Oak at Shuru village on lease from a local about six months ago. Ravleen’s husband Rishabh Saxena was running a camping business in the Ghiyagi area of Banjar subdivision in Kullu. In her statement to the police, Ravleen alleged Rishabh armed with a pistol reached the hotel around 4 am. He got infuriated on seeing her friend Sunny Sheravat (31) at the hotel. After assaulting her, Rishabh shot Sunny and turned the gun on himself, she alleged. Both Rishabh and Sunny died on the spot. Kullu SP Gurdev Sharma said the police reached the spot and found room No. 102, where the firing took place, locked from inside. Ravleen, who sustained a bullet injury, was undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, Manali. The SP said a forensic team had been called at the spot. “Prima facie, it seems the women has no role in the crime,” he added.
