As many as 77,287 people have recovered from the viral disease in the district so far, while the number of active cases in Jalandhar is 406. The district toll is 1,946. Meanwhile, Kapurthala district reported 25 new cases of Covid. The district tally has gone up to 24,112. Meanwhile, no new death was reported in the district. TRIBUNE PHOTO In-laws arrested for murder of Adampur’s 33-year-old man Tribune News Service Jalandhar, July 29 Four days after the murder of a 33-year-old man at Jalbhay village of Adampur, the police claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of four persons, including his inlaws and a juvenile. A partially burnt body of Loveleen Kumar was found in the outer area of the village. SP Investigation Sarabjit Singh Bahia said the youth got married against the wishes of his inlaws seven years ago and was living at their place even as his parental place was in Lamma Pind in Jalandhar. He had two children after his marriage. His in-laws were reportedly unhappy with his drinking habits. Half-burnt body of victim was found dumped in fields of Jalbhay village The arrested persons include the victim’s fatherin-law Jaswinder SIngh, mother-in-law Shakuntla, brother-in-law Yuvraj Singh and a juvenile. Deceased’s father Rajinder Kumar had told the police that he suspected the role of his son’s inlaws in the murder. “When we investigated on these lines, we found that Loveleen used to beat his wife and children in an inebriated condition and he had a fight with them even on the night when the murder took place. His inlaws caught hold of him. They hit him with an iron bangle on the back of his head which caused a deep injury. His mouth was stuffed with a cloth after which he died. They later took his body on a cycle, dumped it in the fields and burnt it. A half-burnt body was spotted by villagers the next day after which the police got into action. The three adult accused have been taken into police custody while the juvenile has been sent to a protection home in Ludhiana. Jalandhar, July 29 The number of mohalla clinics to be made functional in Jalandhar has been increased from three to six. While the state government has instructed that 100 ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ will be made functional in Punjab until August 15 (instead of the previous 75); the additional clinics in Jalandhar have also been approved as part of this expansion. Barring the alreadyapproved three mohalla clinics at Kabir Nagar, Alawalpur and Rajan Colony in Jalandhar, the district will get six mohalla clinics, which will be made functional in Jalandhar until August 15. As per the government’s directions, these will be known as Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs). Notably, the three previously-approved mohalla clinics in the district were being upgraded from Sewa Kendras. The three new clinics will be upgraded from health wellness centres already being run under their respective Primary Health Centres (PHCs). In Jalandhar, the new clinics will be coming up at health wellness centres in Farwala, Pasla and Rasoolpur. These new clinics fall under PHCs Bilga (Farwala); PHC Jandiala (Pasla) and PHC Mehatpur. The work on them will be complete by August 5. Since they were welllness centres, the work on the three new clinics is also complete. OC WINE CONTRACTOR KILLED IN MISHAP Dasuya: Wine contractor Krishan Dev Khosla died in a road accident when his car collided with a roadside tree, near Jhir Da Khuh, this morning. He was on his way to Mata Chintpurni temple in Himachal Pradesh. Seriously injured Khosla was taken to BBMB Hospital, Talwara, but doctors declared him brought dead. The cause of the accident not known yet. The body of the deceased was brought to his house by family members from the BBMB Hospital in the evening. Councillors are members of the committees and they can raise problems of residents with the respective branch. Besides, even works of various branches get distributed and decentralised. IMA condemns Jouramajra’s ‘rude’ behaviour Nawanshahr, July 29 Members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Punjab expressed anguish over the “humiliating” act of Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra during his visit to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. The Health Minister was caught in a tight spot after he asked Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Raj Bahadur to lie on a “dirty” patient’s bed at the Faridkot hospital today. IMA state president Dr Paramjit Maan said the Health Minister humiliated the VC. The IMA leaders condemned the stooping of the Health Minister. “The derogatory behaviour of the minister towards the VC is nothing less than a curse on the noble profession in particular and society in general,” the president rued.
