IANS LUDHIANA | SUNDAY | 7 AUGUST 2022 PYAR DOSTI HAI... Existential threat? Universal Pictures announces NOPE, a grand visual sci-fi treat from director Jordan Peele Universal Pictures has announced the release of an upcoming sci-fi thriller, NOPE, in India. Written and directed by Jordan Peele, the film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Brandon Perea in pivotal roles. The film will release on August 19 in theatres across India. The story of this sci-fi thriller revolves around siblings who run a ranch in California, where the residents of a lonely gulch witness peculiar, ominous activities in the skies. Worsening the situation is the owner of an adjacent theme park, who is trying to profit from the mysterious, otherworldly phenomenon. Jordan Peele shares his inspiration of writing NOPE and says, “Humanity, combined with the feeling of existential helplessness is my inspiration for writing the script for this movie. I targeted this idea of spectacle to bring people out to the theatres and help invigorate their love for the cinematic experience. At the same time, I asked myself the reason why we are obsessed with spectacle. Why is the human condition such that we have this addiction to witnessing magic, be it beautiful or horrific?” Wake Up Sid Sholay 3 Idiots Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Dil Chahta Hai Let’s celebrate Bollywood colours of dosti this Friendship Day THOSE INSEPARABLE THREE! The film has such a strong message with an emphasis on the beauty of friendship those three girls share. The love and bond the three maintain and support each other through a grave situation is very inspiring. — Samaira Sandhu, actor SETTING A BENCHMARK Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 for me are the signs and symbol of true friendship. Kartik Aaryan and Divyendu Sharma in the first film and Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh in the second one set the friendship benchmark rather high. The films’ success speaks of the story that has clicked with masses, and I am all for Luv Ranjan and these two stories of dosti. — Kanwalpreet Singh, actor Our cinema does show different colours of friendship, be it vulnerabilities, understanding or the bond. The film, 3 Idiots, has been one very close to my heart. Even after years when Raju Rastogi and Farhan Qureshi get to see Ranchhoddas they meet with the same zeal that they had during their college days. In fact, I saw it with my friends. The experience of watching a movie with friends is always different. The fun just multiplies. Behti Hawa Sa Tha Vo is our favourite number. — Vijay Kalvani ALL FOR A ROAD TRIP My favourite is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. What I like about the film is that the friends tell each other to live in the present and forget about the past and future. I watched the film when I was in Australia. My close friends Manoj, Sunny and Hardik were in India, so I couldn’t watch it with them in theatre. But we have watched this movie so many times and we have loved it every time. We have planned to go on trips and it’s said that ‘Acche friends vo hote hai jo trips pe jaate hai but best friends vo hote hai jo baar baar plan karte hai but khabhi jaate nahi hain’ and we are like those friends. —Jay Zaveri RELATABLE FRIENDSHIP GRAPH Wake Up Sid is my favourite film that celebrates friendship. How bonds grow over a period of time, change, friends fall out and come back together is portrayed so beautifully and is so relatable. – Namrata Sheth, actor INSPIRING TALES There are many films on friendship but the very first that come to my mind are Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The effortlessness of a friendship, the fights that you have and the love that rides over all the differences are beautifully shown in these two. Just being there for each other is amazing and this Friendship Day, I am sure anyone watching these films would be ready to call up their friends.— Divya Dutta SO MUCH LIKE JAI-VEERU Jai and Veeru are the ultimate friends from filmdom. Friendship is something that gives you the confidence that you have someone to talk to and someone to fall back on emotionally. Sholay for me is the ultimate film about friendship. Ye Chris Hemsworth calls CWG gold medallist Mirabai Chanu ‘legend’ SUNDAY CELEBRATIONS My favourite is 3 Idiots. Whenever my friends and I meet, we listen to the songs of 3 Idiots. The best one is Give Me Some Sunshine. I love travelling with my friends and every Sunday is like a Friendship Day for us. When the movie was released, I watched it with my friends in theatres and even today when we plan a movie to watch, it’s 3 Idiots. Everyone needs a friend to hang out with and do foolish things with, someone to lift your spirits when you’re down. — Ashoka Thackur SONGS FOR ALL MOODS Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na is my favourite. Jai and Aditi’s friendship truly gives us some real goals! A candid film about friendship, fibs, and falling in love, Jaane Tu... truly is also about memorable songs. From the catchy Pappu Can’t Dance Saala to the jazzy Tu Bole to the heartbreaking Kahin Toh, the songs are truly timeless. — Mitaali Nag Duranga announces its release date Starring Gulshan Devaiah and Drashti Dhami in lead roles, ZEE5 announced release date of its next series Duranga on Saturday.
