Investigating Officer (IO) Paramjit Singh said the accused have been identified as Hardeep Kaur, wife of Satnam Singh, Jaswant Singh and Bhupindar Singh, all residents of Bilga village in Phillaur. Harjindar Singh, a resident of Hairan village, complained to the police that his brother Balwindar Singh and his wife Rajwindar Kaur were travelling on their scooter on October 23 when the accused travelling in an SUV driven by Jaswant Singh hit his brother’s scooter on the Nakodar-Shankar road near a petrol pump. Balwindar Singh died on the spot. He said his sister-in-law Rajwindar Kaur was seriously injured and is admitted to a nursing home in Jalandhar. The IO said a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 338 and 427 of the IPC has been registered against the accused. OC ONE DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR Hoshiarpur: One person died after being hit by a car. The police of Sadar police station have registered a case against the accused driver. According to the information, Betka Kishku, a resident of the bus stand, told the police that a car driver hit his uncle Charan Kishku, due to which his uncle died. The Sadar police have registered a case against the accused driver, Ashok Kumar, a resident of Baroti. TRIBUNE PHOTO Jalandhar, October 26 The city police on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly killed and buried his six-month-old daughter in the ground because he wanted a son. The accused has been identified as Arjun, a native of Bihar, who was presently residing here at Pholriwal village in Jalandhar. As per police officials, the incident took place on Diwali night. They said the accused had taken his daughter to a water tank in the village, where he first killed her and later buried ❝ If the medical reports confirm that the girl was raped before being murdered, its section will be added to the FIR. Mahal, who is BKU (Rajewal), Phillaur, vice-president, said: “The seeds were sold by Krishna Pesticide Store in Phillaur. At least 70 bags were sold by them. My store also bought them thinking they were PR-126. But when we used them they turned out to be spurious. I am a victim too as the seed was sold on false pretext to me. My key profession is farming. I lost acres of crop to the seed. My potato crop is also affected. I am among the key complainants. Continued on Page 2 Shop gutted in Hoshiarpur Hoshiarpur, October 26 A furniture workshop in Sukhiabad area of Hoshiarpur city was gutted last late fight when a fire broke out. The workshop owned by former Municipal Commissioner Sarabjit Singh had large stocks of timber, foam cushions and other raw material which turned to ashes due to the fire. A four-wheeler parked inside there was also gutted. Getting the information, a fire tender reached the spot. It took around two hours for three fire tenders to extinguish the fire completely but by then the workshop had completely burnt to ashes. A furniture shop in flames at Sukhiabad in Hoshiarpur. Timely action by the fire brigade averted major incident because the workshop is situated in a residential area and its surrounded by several houses.
