The accused is wanted in a case of drug peddling registered in 2019 and was declared PO on November 23. OC MANY BOOKED FOR BREWING LIQUOR Phagwara: The Bilga police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of brewing illicit country-made liquor. IO Harjindar Singh said the accused were brewing illicit liquor in the Mand area along the Sutlej near Sangowal village. Police raided the spot and recovered 600 litre of Lahan (raw liquor) and utensils for brewing and storing lahan were recovered from the spot. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the unidentified accused. OC Jalandhar, November 29 A man was killed and a woman injured in a firing incident at Satnampura in Rama Mandi here late Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Ravinder Singh, alias Sonu, of Rurka Kalan village and the injured woman as Kuljeet Kaur of Satnampura. Sonu, who is said to be a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had come to meet Kuljeet Kaur’s son Baljinder Singh Aulakh at the latter’s residence for some work. Baljinder owned a bouncer-providing firm and Sonu used to work for him. He said further investigation in the case is underway, and they are waiting for Gurmeet to be discharged from the hospital, so that he could be produced in a local court and they could seek his remand for further interrogation in the case. Jalandhar, November 29 The police party of Division Number 8 have arrested four persons in separate incidents and recovered 75-gm heroin, 100-gm opium and a stolen bike from their possession. The accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar, Manpreet Singh, Anmol and Saurav Sharma. The police said while Ajay and Manpreet were arrested near Transport Nagar and 75-gm heroin was recovered from their possession, the accused Anmol and Saurav were arrested from Sabzi Mandi focal point and Pathankot chowk, respectively. A stolen bike bearing number PB07-X5311 was recovered from Anmol, and 100-gm opium was recovered from Saurav’s possession. According to the information received, Kamlesh Rani, alias Anita, a resident of Ema Mangat village of Mukerian, had complained to the police in this regard in July 2020. The complainant is the sister of the accused. The complainant told the police that a woman, who was living in a live-in with her elder brother Rajesh Kumar for three years, told her that her 15-year-old daughter was CONVICT’S SISTER HAD LODGED COMPLAINT AGAINST HIM allegedly raped by Rajesh. After receiving the information, the police took quick action and took the victim to the hospital for medical treatment, arrested the accused and produced him in the court. The police have also impounded a number of luxury vehicles, including a Range Rover for traffic violations. All employees observed a daylong mass leave and submitted their leave applicationto the Deputy Chief Executive Officer as a mark of protest. On the occasion, Deepak said they had been providing continuous services in rural dispensaries for the past 16 years at a very low salary, but their services had not been regularised yet. Regional Passport Officer Yash Pal said passport applicants could book/reschedule their appointment to apply for passport by visiting the official website of the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, at www.passportindia.gov.in. “The appointmernt availability for December 3 can be checked from the above official website. However, we will allow only one preponement or one rescheduling. Applicants are advised to carefully decide to prepone and they will have no opportunity to reschedule or choose another date if they fail to appear after the single opportunity to change,” said the officer. In this regard, he also informed that no institution or middleman has been authorised by the Ministry of External Affairs, so the general public is advised to apply for their passport directly from the official portal of the MEA and do not come in contact with any agent or middleman. — TNS
