A video of the incident went viral on social media wherein a cop was seen stealing petrol from the bike. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amandeep Kaur said the matter was being investigated to identify the cop and take further action. The incident was reported in the Kairon market parking. In the video, a PCR bike stopped near a car in the parking area. The cop was seen stealing petrol from the bike in a bottle and later putting it in the dicky. A man captured the incident in his mobile phone and circulated it on the social media. The said PCR bike patrols in the Hall Gate and its adjoining area. Follow traffic norms or face music Tribune News Service Amritsar: The city police have arrested two persons in separate cases for allegedly possessing 70 gm of heroin here on Sunday. Those arrested were identified as Balwinder Singh and Rajinder Singh of Maqboolpura. The police seized 50-gm heroin from Rajinder and 20-gm from Balwinder Singh. They would be brought on police remand for further interrogations to ascertain their links, said the police. Separate cases under the NDPS Act were registered against them. TNS MAN HELD FOR SNATCHING PURSE Amritsar: The Mehta police have arrested a person, Jagdeep Singh of Mattewal, for allegedly snatching a purse from Harpreet Kaur of Saidoke village while she, along with her mother-in-law Dalbir Kaur, was returning to their village on a rickshaw. The incident took place three days ago. She told the police that when they reached near a garment store at Mehta Chowk, a bike-borne miscreant snatched her purse containing a mobile phone and cash. During investigation, the police identified the suspect and arrested him on Saturday. Encroachments lead to congestion on roads, causing traffic snarls. The suspects were travelling in a car bearing registration number PB08EQ8999. SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said here today that the suspects, who had a criminal past, had been identified as Surjit Singh and Gagandeep Singh, both residents of Dhunn Dhai Wala, Chohla Sahib. The SSP said the CIA police team, led by Inspector Prabhjit Singh, in-charge, CIA, recovered four packets of heroin weighing around 4 kg, two pistols, 10 cartridges and ~2.6 lakh drug money. Amritsar, March 26 After laying the foundation stone of a skywalk project, costing ~60 crore, outside Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib here, Minister of Local Government Inderbir Singh Nijjar said once this project was complete, it would bring relief to ‘sangat’ coming for darshan of Shaheedan Sahib. The ‘sangat’ has to cross the road to go to the gurdwara, which not only causes inconvenience, but also leads to traffic jams. c m y b To come up outside Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib He said the project includes multiple foot overbridges and skywalk plaza in front of Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib. The plaza would have a cluster of entry and exit points through stairs, escalators and lifts for ease of pedestrian movement. He said this project would ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims. MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi said the provision for facilities such as toilets for pilgrims, tourist information centre and police post in the skywalk project would ensure safety and convenience to the congregation. He said the plaza would be developed through landscaping and beautification. He said the skywalk plaza would have 16 stairs, 16 escalators and seven lifts. The project has to be completed by the company within one and a half years. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a picnic spot with a hydro power plant built during the British period near the Tara Wala Bridge under the UBDC project. It has swings for children, open aim gym and beautiful gardening. Under the Smart City mission, a mini-company garden had been built on 3.5 acres of land at a cost of ~5.5 crore, which has become a centre of attraction for people. While inaugurating the waste processing plant built at a cost of ~5 crore under the Smart City at Fatehpur under the Cen- tral constituency, the Minister said waste was generated during the construction of residential and commercial buildings in the city. No money would be charged on delivery of the waste to the C&T plant. He said challan would be issued for dumping debris along roads.
