This flight service will operate between the holy city and the financial capital of the country on an Airbus A320/321 (140 to 180-seater) aircraft. It will provide seamless onward two-way connectivity from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to various cities in southern and central India including Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Coimbatore, and Goa. The flight will operate after midnight allowing passengers to arrive in Mumbai and other destinations in the early morning hours. They were identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Hathi Gate, and Satrohan, a resident of Lohgarh Gate, in the city. Rajesh has around 12 cases of vehicle lifting registered against him. They were escaping in their car after having a quarrel outside a bar on Mall Road here. The police said two groups of youth were consuming liquor in the Ranjit Avenue area. Later, when the two groups came near the liquor bar on Mall Road they entered into a quarrel over some issue. Onlookers informed the control room following which the Civil Lines police reached the spot. However, five members of one group escaped in their car towards the Islamabad area where their vehicle hit another car. As their vehicle got stuck they snatched a scooter from a resident and fled from the spot. Varinder Singh Khosa, Assistant Commissioner of Police, a probe had been initiated after registering a case in this connection. He said the police found some sharp weapons from the absconders’ car in the Islamabad area. He said apparently the vehicle had developed a snag. 12% hike in wheat arrival at grain markets in district Women booked for trespass, attempt to kidnap girl Manmeet Singh Gill Amritsar, May 13 The rural police have booked over 12 persons, mainly women, for allegedly barging into a house and ransacking the place besides attempting to kidnap a girl at Mahal village falling under the jurisdiction of the Kamboh police station here. She was rescued after people of the area intervened while the suspects fled from the spot. According to information, victim’s brother had married a girl, who was a relative of the suspects, in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. This had angered the suspects. The district recorded a total procurement of 6,33,366 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat last year. However this year, a total of 7,09,884 MT of wheat crop has already arrived in markets of the district. Earlier, the district Agriculture Department had reported a seven per cent hike in wheat yield this season. But the accurate assessment would be made only after the harvesting was over, especially as the fresh produce from fields was still being brought to grain markets. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
