DSP’s gunman dies as weapon goes off Woman, 2 daughters jump into canal; six-yr-old feared drowned Tribune News Service Ludhiana, May 26 A woman jumped into the Neelon canal in Samrala with two daughters aged two and six on Friday. Passers-by dived into the canal and rescued the mother and the two-year-old girl child. However, the sixyear-old girl is feared drowned. The woman has been identified as Gurdeep Kaur of Sahnewal. The mother and the rescued child were taken to the Civil Hospital, Samrala, where the condition of the two-year-old child remains critical. The suspect had prepared fake stamps of two MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to authenticate the documents. The suspect has been identified as Avtar Singh (23) of Basti Jodhewal. The police seized 13 PAN cards, two voter ID cards, nine Aadhaar Cards, 80 blank PAN cards, 40 blank Voter ID cards, 200 blank Aadhaar cards, two RC smart cards, all fake documents, and nine fake stamps of MLAs, councillors and The suspect in custody of cops in Ludhiana on Friday. They have been identified as Bikram, alias Vikko, a resident of Meet Market, Bazigar basti, Khanna, and Ganga Uktan of the Vishwakarma Road area, Lal Singh Nagar, Moga. According to Payal DSP Harsimrat Chettra, the police team, headed by Inspector Santokh Singh, arrested the man and the woman with 50 gm of heroin during search operations at the bus stand here. They were coming on foot from Beant Singh Chowk towards the bus stand when the woman tried to hand over the bag she carried to the man, who, in turn, dropped it there and then tried to leave the place. The duo were nabbed on the spot and heroin was seized from them. Investigation was on in the matter, he said. Both of them have been arrested and a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them.
