INSIDE US woman killed by in-laws ‘for insurance money’ Aparna Banerji Tribune News Service Jalandhar, January 28 A US-based woman, Rajdeep Kaur (32), who hailed from Punjab, was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in a Kapurthala village after being invited to India on the pretext of a relative’s wedding. The mother of a five-yearold boy was a US citizen and the police claimed she was murdered for her insurance money. Babandeep Singh, DSP Sultanpur Lodhi, said, , “It is believed the woman WAS ASKED TO COME TO INDIA FOR A ‘WEDDING’ ■ On her husband’s insistence, Rajdeep came to Kapurthala for a relative’s wedding. She along with their five-year-old son had come to Kapurthala on January 12 on the insistence of her husband. While she had US citizenship, her husband is living illegally in the US and is trying to get a green card. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
