While one of them, an eight-year-old girl, did not survive, her younger brother sustained serious injuries. Their mother also suffered injuries. The truck driver escaped from the spot following the incident, leaving the vehicle behind. Bystanders rushed the injured children to a hospital. The police have initiated an investigation and impounded the truck. According to information, Pooja and her husband Chandan worked at a cold storage facility and resided there. Recently, a Congress leader had allegedly locked the plant in the presence of several persons. The MC is now planning to make the plant operational again. MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, seeking necessary support to carry out the required action. The plant, which was constructed at a cost of around Rs 7.98 crore, was supposed to be inaugurated in July 2021, but faced opposition from residents. However, on January 15 this year, the MC, with the support of administration and police officials, managed to make the plant operational. An official stated that a politician, along with supporters, had recently locked the plant. “The MC Commissioner has now written to the DC. The plant will be made operational again within this week,” the official said. The carcass utilisation plant was built at a cost of ~7.98 crore. Ludhiana, January 29 In the face of significant challenges related to traffic congestion and road safety in the city, the local municipal corporation (MC) intends to enlist the services of a road traffic expert (RTE) agency to provide consultancy on road design and resolution of traffic-related issues. The initiative aims at alleviating the traffic issues prevalent on the city roads. The MC has initiated the bidding process by floating tenders for the job. At present, long traffic jams are a common occurrence on various city roads. In addition, there are identified black spots where multiple fatal accidents have took place in the past. Notably, the civic body had been planning to hire an expert for a long period. Jail officials had filed two complaints after the recovery of eight mobile phones during checking of the jail premises on December 31 and January 9. Two cases under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act have been registered at the Division No. 7 police station. In the first case, the suspects were identified as Bharat, Jatinder Kumar, Ranjit Singh and Rohit. They were caught with phones on January 9. The suspects in the other case were Harvinder Singh, Shubham Kirpal, Ishpinder Singh, and Gulshan Singh Gosha. They were found in possession of phones on December 31. Basking in winter sun External injury spotted on head Tribune News Service Ludhiana, January 29 An unidentified young man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a vacant plot near Bharat Nagar Chowk here today. Passersby saw the body and informed the police. Cops from the Division No. 8 police station reached the spot and started an investigation. The man had an external head injury though the exact cause of the death is yet to be ascertained. A bottle of liquor was found near the body. It is suspected that the man c m y b might have been killed by somebody and the body was disposed of in the plot. The police said the cause of death would be ascertained once the autopsy was done. A cop said the man might have fallen due to alcohol intoxication and sustained an injury in the head.
