The ATC system is to be installed at 42 major junctions in the city at a cost of over Rs 7.50 crore. If the tendering process remains successful, the contractor with the winning bid will be allocated the work. According to information, the project is to be financed from funds allocated under the 15th Finance Commission and the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) and civic body funds. The project was given approval by the MC’s Finance and Contract Committee in January 2023. The Civil Surgeon said all SMOs should ensure making regular rounds of their hospitals so that they should aware if there was any shortcoming in their institutions or difficulties faced by patients. They would be able to solve problems only when they were aware about the same. Dr Aulakh said the SMOs should conduct surprise checkings in their hospitals on a regular basis. “The report of the visits should be sent to me and pictures should be uploaded in the official group,” he said. CS: Unregistered ultrasound machines cause for concern The recent seizure of ultrasound machines by the Health Department has put forward unanswered questions. In the past four years, 12 unregistered ultrasound machines have been seized by the department and it directly points towards the quackery in the region.
