The incident was noticed by sewadaar Rachhpal Singh of the gurdwara on Friday morning. He told the police that he noticed that the locks of the main gate and the golak were broken and donation worth ~45,000 was stolen. Devotees were shocked by the incident. Assistant Sub-Inspector Nishan Singh of the city police said a case under Sections 380 and 457 of the IPC was registered in this regard. Amritsar, February 3 To keep a check on the rising number of illegal buildings, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation has asked the Municipal Town Planners (MTPs) to prepare a list of illegal underconstruction buildings in the city. The MTPs have also been asked to prepare a list of old and unsafe buildings. In a meeting with the MTPs, MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh asked the officials to ensure that no construction takes place without the sanction of site plan and other legal requirements. The MC Commis- sioner, who has recently joined the office, said his top priority would be check and take action against the violation of the building bylaws in the city. He said he had received numerous complaints regarding rampant violations. The Commissioner asked the officials to prepare a sector-wise list of illegal buildings so that action against violators could be planned systematically. On the occasion, he appealed to the owners of illegal buildings where construction is still going on to stop it immediately and submit their site plans first and construct only after getting sanction of the site plan. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh, MTPs Narinder Sharma and Meharban Singh, ATPs Parminder Singh, Paramjit Dutta, Arun Khanna, Harjinder Singh, Wazir Raj, and all building inspectors. Youth shot at, 6 booked for attempt to murder Amritsar, February 3 A youth was shot at by several persons at Nikka Singh Colony near Khalsa College where he along with his friend had gone to procure garments here on Friday night. The victim, identified as Daksh Kaushal (18), a resident of Ghanupur Kale area, was admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for treatment. He is a student of Class XI at Khalsa Senior Secondary School here. An old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident. The Cantonment police have registered a case of murder bid and snatching against over six persons as the accused also took away his bike. They alleged that the state government was trying to suppress public voices by not allowing them to hold a protest in a peaceful manner. The union had announced a sit-in outside the Punjab CM’s residence to demand the release of activist Bhana Sidhu arrested by the police. The union had earlier announced that the union members would gherao the Chief Minister’s residence in Sangrur. However, as the police arrested various leaders of the union to thwart the move, the union announced that they would not let the staff at various toll plazas charge fee from commuters. Leaders of the union stated that earlier leaders of the ruling party used to criticise the farmers for protesting on roads reasoning that it causes inconvenience to public.
