He has been identified as Harpreet Singh. The police have also booked an unidentified employee or employees of the Revenue Department for their alleged involvement in the case. After the matter came to his notice, SDM, Ludhiana West, Harjinder Singh Bedi, filed a complaint against the suspect. The property, which was sold using fake documents, actually belongs to a hosiery firm. A case has been registered. — TNS Miscreants attack 2 hospital staff, loot mobiles Ludhiana, February 8 A group of around seven unidentified individuals allegedly assaulted a security consultant and a supervisor of a private hospital and robbed them of their mobile phones. Duo were trying to help biker surrounded by suspects Deedar Singh (73) lodged a complaint, stating that he works as a security consultant at the DMCH. He said he and Malkit Singh, supervisor, were en route to the DMCH when they saw a bike rider being surrounded by six-seven unidentified persons near the hospital. He said while trying to help the biker, the assailants armed with sharp weapons attacked him (Deedar) and the other person. He alleged that they snatched his mobile and two other mobiles from Malkit. At present, Deedar was undergoing treatment at the hospital. A case has been registered. — TNS ‘AAP DI SARKAR, AAP DE DWAR’ District records second highest footfall in state Over 86% public services delivered, 74% grievances resolved on spot in single day Nitin Jain Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 8 ‘Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Dwar’, a novel initiative of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government in the state to deliver public services and redress public grievances on the doorsteps of residents, has evoked an overwhelming response in the district, the administration has said. Ludhiana, which is the biggest and largest district in the state, in terms of area and population, has recorded the second highest footfall in the state in the doorstep public services delivery and grievances redressal camps held in different parts of urban and rural areas on Wednesday. While over 86 per cent of the total public services applied for at 49 camps were delivered on the spot, almost 74 per cent of the total public grievances received were resolved on the spot during the single day on Wednesday. Sharing the daily progress report, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney told The Tribune here on Thursday that as many as 49 camps, which were the maximum in the state, were held across the district on Wednesday, which was the second day of the month-long state-wide campaign to reach out to the public by holding such camps. Sakshi, who herself visited most of the camps to supervise the services being offered and interact with the public visiting the camps, said as many as 3,500 persons visited 49 camps in the district on Wednesday, which was the second highest foot- Another suspect held in GLADA SCO scam Ludhiana, February 8 In a fraud case involving the sale of an SCO worth Rs 5.5 crore under the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) by preparing forged documents, the police have arrested one more person. The arrested individual has been identified as Manjit Singh, also known as Jassa, who has been remanded to one-day police custody. So far, a total of five suspects have been apprehended in the case. Following a complaint, the police had previously registered a case against 12 individ- uals in January for allegedly perpetrating fraud by selling a shop-cum-office (SCO) in Urban Estate, Dugri, using counterfeit documents. The complainant alleged that the suspects had sold the SCO in Urban Estate for Rs 5.5 crore by fabricating documents. During the investigation, the police also seized a computer used in producing fake documents. Sources said the role of some officials of GLADA and the Revenue Department is under scrutiny. Foul-smelling water is amassing outside homes, forcing the residents to traverse the pooled sewage to enter or leave their homes. They said instances of sewage overflow in Mandir Wali Gali (street number 3.5) and nearby streets of Kailash Nagar had occurred many times in the past too. They lamented that despite raising the issue multiple times, the problem persists. They urge the MC to identify a permanent solution to prevent sewage overflow. Some residents from street number 3.5 in Kailash Nagar said they consistently face poor sanitation conditions whenever sewage starts overflowing after a short period. They also questioned if there might be a fault with the sewer system. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the irregular cleaning of sewer lines. Sewage had accumulated outside a few shops on the road, causing inconveniences to the public. MC’s SDO Summerbir Singh said they had already cleaned the main sewer line and the problem was expected to be addressed on the streets of Kailash Nagar by Friday. Addressing the conference, Harmeet Singh Kadian said the government should ensure 10 hours of continuous electricity supply for their fields. “As per the forecast of the Meteorological Department, it is predicted that coming days will be full of sunshine and temperature will also rise. Hence, the fields will require adequate water supply. To ensure that the fields get continuous water supply, the farmers should be given at least 10 hours of uninterrupted water supply. Depending upon diesel for gensets will not only prove costly for the farmers but also prove harmful for the environment,” Kadian said. “Farmers are already having a difficult time as many of them are doing farming by taking loans and the government should ensure power supply so their problems are not aggravated further,” he said. Farmers further requested the government to give the pending compensation to the farmers whose animals died due to lumpy skin and relief for flood-hit crops was also pending. The incident occurred recently when the food delivery boy and his companion were going to deliver a pizza to a customer on Sua Road (near Gill Road). The complainant, Sandeep Singh, of Jagdev Colony, here, said he works with Domino’s restaurant chain as a delivery boy. On February 6, he, along with Jugal Kishore, was going to deliver a pizza on a motorcycle to a store on Sua Road. When they crossed the railway gate, eight youngsters surrounded them. They snatched the mobile, wallet containing Rs 8,500 and documents from him. They also snatched the mobile and Rs 4,300 from Jugal by brandishing a sharp weapon.— TNS
