The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh (34) of Gill road, Jaspreet Singh (36) and Harinder Singh (33) of Karnail Singh Nagar. In a press statement, AIG STF Snehdeep Sharma stated that they had received secret information that the suspects were into drug smuggling for long time and were to deliver the recovered heroin and ice drug to their clients. A motorcycle and a mobile phone, which were snatched by them, and a sword used in crime were recovered from their possession. Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 11 An NRI belonging to the city has paid his gratitude to the Punjab Police for taking action on his complaint related to a property fraud done to him, without making him visit India amid his apprehension of threat to his life. The complaint pertained to Saggar House, a prime property worth over Rs 100 crore situated on the Rani Jhasi road. The suspects were identified as Kulwinder Singh Grewal, a resident of Sarabha Nagar, Anmol Saggar, his brother Atul Saggar and complainant’s real brother Rohit Saggar, all from Kundanpuri. A case under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 120B(criminal conspiracy) of the IPC was registered against them. Kulwinder and Rohit have been arrested. In a complaint submitted online to the Punjab DGP , Mohit Saggar, who resides in Chicago, US, stated that on March 9, 2022, Rohit allegedly forged his signature and sold his share of ancestral property to Kulwinder. He stated that the forgery stood proven as he had never visited India after the year 2000. Kulwinder further sold the property to others. “Kulwinder and his associates wanted to grab my share in the said property. Earlier also, they had caused damage to my property and I had submitted complaints about it. On March 9, 2022, I came to know that Kulwinder, in connivance with Atul, Anmol and my brother sent some unidentified persons to the house. They forcibly trespassed on the property, broke a major portion of the building and loaded the bricks and other material in a vehicle. They not only wanted to take unlawful possession of the property, but also caused damage to the structure,” he stated. The complainant stated that he apprehended threat to his life at the hands of the suspects if came to India. “I had sent a complaint to the Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, who further marked it to Parveen Sinha, ADGP NRI , Wing. At last, Dr Narinder Bhargav, DIG, NRI Wing, Ludhiana, conducted a probe and registered a case,” he said. The industrialists maintained that they were a little relieved as the MPs extended their full support in dealing with the issue. An industrialist having a dyeing unit here said it was the first time that all datas were put forth before MPs on how under-billed cloth was being imported from China, which was not possible without the connivance of officials. The police immediately took action, raided the spot and arrested the three suspects. The police recovered two Aadhaar cards and an Activa from the suspects. Similarly, the Eye Department saw 19 cases in December and 14 in January. — TNS City resident loses ~11.14L to cyber cons, five booked Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 11 A city resident lost Rs 11.14 lakh to cybercriminals while trying to login on a bank’s portal to get pension-related information. The suspects were identified as Ajit Kumar of Tamil Nadu, Krishan Kumar of Madhya Pradesh, Sanjay Kumar and Sita Ram Kumar of Bihar, and Amikev Dhar of West Bengal. A complaint in this regard was submitted by the victim, Ravinder Kumar Verma of Janta Enclave, on October 20 last year and the police registered the case yesterday after carrying out an investigation. The police booked the suspects on the charges of fraud, criminal conspiracy and under the Information Technology Act. The complainant had told the police that he had clicked on a link related to SBI’s human resources management system portal to get information about his pension. To his surprise, he got messages after sometime about var- ious transactions, debiting his bank account with a total of Rs 11.14 lakh. Following his complaint, the police conducted a probe and found that money was credited into the bank accounts of the suspects. Investigating officer Inspector Gurpreet Singh, SHO, Sadar police station, said after conducting a probe into the case, a case was registered. The police were making efforts to arrest the suspects. It is pertinent to mention here that several cases of fraud using this modus operandi have been registered in the past. However, the police had not been able to catch the suspects in most of these cases.
