All suspects in connivance with each other had prepared fake and forged property documents and transferred property in the name of the complainant’s son. The police registered a case against the suspects, identified as nambardar Harnek Singh, Taranjit Singh of Dugri, Kulwinder Singh of Model Town, Upjeet Singh of Basant Avenue, Jasdeep Singh of Dugri, Sandeep Singh of Ludhiana, Nambardar Gokal Chander of Dhandra, Mohan Singh of Dugri, Satnam Kaur, Prakash Kaur of Manakwal, Baljit Singh of Machhiwara, on the complaint of Mahinder Singh, a resident of Dugri, Phase 2. In the statement given to the police, Mahinder told that Taranjit had fixed a deal with him for selling two plots in Dugri, each plot of 158.58 sq yards. “Taranjit in connivance with other suspects hatched a conspiracy and took Rs 2.70 crore from me. Later, they prepared fake and forged property documents and got them registered in favor of my son Ajitpal. When I came to know about the same and talked to the suspects, they started ignoring me. Following which, I lodged a complaint with the CP Ludhiana, , and a case was registered against the accused on Tuesday,” he alleged. The case was registered under Sections 465 and 471 of the IPC. Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar, SHO, Dugri, said the case was registered after getting a tip-off that a fake registration number was being used on the gypsy. Notably, the MC’s carcass 7 injured in fire caused by LPG leakage in Giaspura Sahnewal, February 14 Seven persons, including three children, were injured in a fire incident that occurred due to LPG leakage at Rajan Colony in Giaspura late on Tuesday night. The injured persons have been admitted to different hospitals while a case has been registered against the man who was refilling the LPG from bigger cylinders to smaller ones in his room in the colony. Gaurav Jha, a resident of Rajan Colony, was illegally transferring the LPG from a cylinder to a smaller one when the washer of the big cylinder broke and the gas gushed out of the same. Unfortunately, migrants of the colony were performing some pooja at the time by lighting diyas around the place. Within no time, the gas came in contact with the fire and the incident occurred. The development comes after the Additional Director General of Police, Punjab Police, issued written orders to all commissioners of police (CPs) and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) of the state. After receiving the orders, police heads told traffic police officials to pull up their socks and set up nakas to catch violators. A copy of the ADGP’s order, which is with The Tribune, states, “The police are observing National Road Safety Month-2024 from January 15 utilisation plant, established at a cost of around Rs 7.98 crore in Rasulpur Patti village near Noorpur Bet in 2021, was finally made operational in January 2024. But only after a week, it was locked by a Congress leader extending support to villagers who had been opposing the plant. However, the plant was established during the regime of the Congress government. Now, the MC is facing challenges on how to make the plant operational again to February 14 in which the public are being made aware of traffic rules. Under the drive, you should also instruct in-charges of the Traffic Education Cell posted under you that besides making the people aware, they should also tell drivers of the SHOs, in-charges of police posts and official vehicles that hey should wear seat belts while driving. It further states, “Besides, any officer sitting on a rear seat in a government vehicle or public in their four- wheelers will also have to wear seat belts to avoid challans. ACP (Traffic) Gurpreet Singh said the order regarding the rear seat belt challans were already received from the headquarters and after spreading awareness on the same, the traffic police would issue challans. Meanwhile, on Tuesday an awareness drive was organised under the ongoing road safety month where 100 helmets were distributed among the people at Rajpura chowk. Cop dies after being hit by train Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 14 An assistant-sub-inspector (ASI) of the Vigilance Bureau died after being hit by a train on Tuesday night. He was returning home from duty. When he was crossing the Ladhowal railway tracks, he was hit by a train. The deceased has been identified as Manjeet Singh, resident of Shimlapuri Colony. After the incident, passers-by informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) following which the police reached the spot and took the body in their custody. Family members of the deceased were also informed by the police. SP GRP Balram Rana, said , , the incident occurred on Tuesday night and the police had launched a probe in this regard. So far, it was not clear which train hit the victim. Suspecting no foul play, inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPc were initiated by the police. Chairman of the association Ashok Sachdeva has confirmed that owing to less commission by oil companies, dealers in Punjab had decided not to buy petrol tomorrow. Consequently, long queues were witnessed outside petrol stations. The commuters were seen waiting in queues to get fuel at almost all petrol stations in the city. Sachdeva said being the biggest district of the state, the consumption of fuel in Ludhiana was more than anywhere else. “There is an increase of up to 50 per cent sales of fuel. It is bound to create panic when fuel, for around three days, is sold in a single day,” he said. On February 22 also, the dealers would not sell fuel in the state, he said. Miscreants fire shots at lawyer Ludhiana, February 14 Unidentified car-borne assailants opened fire at a lawyer, Sukhneet Singh Bhatia, in Phase 1, Dugri, this evening. They had fired three shots at the lawyer of which two hit the victim. He was rushed to the DMCH and was said to be out of danger. The miscreants fled in a white car (bearing Haryana registration number) after the incident. As per information, the lawyer was going with his son for some work in his car. Later, the miscreants came in a car and opened fire at his car. Two bullets hit the lawyer, one near his ear and the other his stomach. After the incident, the victim himself reached the Dugri Police officials probe the firing incident in Dugri. CCTV cameras were also being checked to get any clue about the assailants. — TNS MC removes 15 encroachments Man posing as Vigilance DSP nabbed Ludhiana, February 14 The Municipal Corporation removed around 15 encroachments on banks of the Buddha Nullah on Wednesday. Officials said the encroachments were hindering the project to construct the road along the nullah. These were removed from the stretch, starting from Chander Nagar puli to Kundanpuri puli. The officials said demarcation of remaining encroachments was also underway and the same would also be removed in days to come. Earlier, in the morning, a meeting was held to discuss the issue of encroachments along the nullah and the road construction work. MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi issued instructions to officials for the removal of the encroachments. — TNS Tribune News Service c m y b Ludhiana, February 14 The Khanna police claimed to have arrested a fake Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The suspect had been misleading public by posing as the official of the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab Police. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Khanna, Amneet Kondal, while addressing mediapersons said on February 13, a team of the Khanna City police station got a tip-off that Ramandeep Singh, a resident of Ahluwalia Mohalla, Khanna, by posing himself as the DSP Vigilance, had , been demanding money from the people in lieu of getting their works done at government offices. Khanna SSP Amneet Kondal addresses the media in Khanna. Ramandeep also owns a licensed weapon with which he was making the people believe that he was an official in the Punjab Police. Kondal said based on the information, a case under the IPC was registered against the suspect. Further investigation was carried out and he was arrested. During interrogation, it came to light that Ramandeep was posing as the DSP for a long time whereas he had no link with the Punjab Police. This person used to do fraud with people in lieu of getting their works done at government offices. During investigation, a fake ID card of DSP, Vigilance, Punjab, was also recovered from his possession on which the suspect had used a photo of him wearing a police uniform. Meanwhile, the Khanna SSP appealed to the public that if Ramandeep had called anyone by posing as the Vigilance official and took money from them in lieu of doing their works at government offices, the person(s) should inform the Khanna police about the same and action would be taken against him as per law.
