HIMANSHU MAHAJAN Youth booked for raping girl on marriage pretext BKU (Lakhowal) to attend mahapanchayat in Delhi on March 14 Ludhiana, March 10 The Daresi police yesterday registered a case against a youth who had sexually exploited a girl on the pretext of solemnising marriage with her. The suspect has been identified as Imran Alam (22) of Jaswant Nagar. The complainant told the police that the youth stays at a rented accommodation near her house. Recently, she developed a friendship with him. Later, it turned into a love affair and he proposed her for marriage. The victim said about six months ago, the suspect had taken her to his room where he sexually exploited her. Afterwards, he violated her many times on various occasions on the pretext of marriage. Now, he had refused to get married with her. The victim said on March 9, she lodged a police complaint against the youth, following which the police registered a case against him on Saturday. ASI Balwinder Singh said a raid was being conducted to nab the suspect. — TNS Ludhiana, March 10 The Ludhiana police organised ‘Rahat Camps’ at various police stations in the Police Commissionerate to dispose of pending complaints. The camps were directly supervised by JCPs, ADCPs, ACPs, police station heads and various unit chiefs. As per the statement issued by the Ludhiana police, as many as 3,782 complaints were disposed of on the spot during these camps. These complaints were disposed of after listening to both parties by police officials. JCP (City) Suhail Qasim Mir said on the directions of Commissioner of Police (CP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal, special teams were formed at police stations and units where officials attended to the complaints and provided on-the-spot resolutions. The suspects have been identified as Gursewak Singh, alias Joga, a resident of Tarn Taran. The truck driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Later, the suspect was arrested by the police. The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Singh (33) and his wife Mandeep Kaur (30), residents of Changna village. The couple had a fouryear-old son and a two-year-old daughter. Pradeep was working with a bank and his wife was a teacher at a private school. They had attacked another group at a private hospital and the attack was the outcome of a dispute between a woman and her in-laws. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Samrala, Tarlochan Singh, said yesterday Jasvir Kaur had consumed some poisonous substance due to the ongoing alleged dispute with her in-laws. The woman was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. When she was undergoing treatment at the hospital, her kin came and attacked her in-laws with sharp weapons. Sukhchain Singh, Gulshan Singh and Hardeep Singh suffered serious injuries in the attack. Later, on the complaint of Hardeep, a case of attempt to murder was registered against the assailants, identified as Gurdeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Manjit Singh, and they were arrested. Cow carcasses found dumped at garbage dump on Tibba road Tribune News Service Ludhiana, March 10 The Ludhiana police today registered a case against unidentified persons who had dumped cow carcasses at a garbage dump on the Tibba road on Saturday night. Hindu leaders and cow vigilants also gathered at the spot and informed the police about the incident. On the complaint of Nitish Sharma of the Gau Rakshak Welfare Society, the Tibba police registered a case against unidentified persons. As per information, carcasses of four cows and four calves were found from the garbage dump located on the Tibba road. Police personnel said CCTV cameras installed in the area were being checked to get any clue about the suspects who dumped the cow carcasses in the area .
