The suspects have been identified as Harsimranjeet Singh and Amandeep Singh. The suspects were arrested at a naka laid in Kathgarh. After seeing the police, the suspects threw the syringes. On suspicion, the police nabbed the duo. A case has been registered against them under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. The police also seized the car. TNS 3 TRAVEL AGENTS BOOKED FOR FRAUD Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked three travel agents, including a woman, for allegedly duping a person of ~20 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad. Investigating officer (IO) and Malsian police post-in-charge Kewal Singh said the suspects had been identified as Narinder Grover, a resident of Tagore Nagar, Jalandhar, his son Vipul Grover, and daughter Palvi Grover. The investigating officer said Rajinder Singh, a resident of Mehmun Wal Yusaf Pur village, told Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that he paid ~20 lakh to the suspects to facilitate his son Amarpreet Singh’s migration to the US. However, the suspects neither sent him abroad nor returned the money. A case under Sections 406, and 420 of the IPC has been registered. OC THREE ENCROACH ON LAND, BOOKED Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked three members of a family on the charge of encroaching upon Waqf land. Investigating officer (IO) Malsian police post in charge Kewal Singh said the suspects had been identified as Mangat Ram, a resident of Khan Pur Rajputan, and his sons Jinder Kumar and Sarabjit Singh. In his complaint to the police, Punjab Waqf Board Jalandhar estate officer Shakeel Ahmad said the suspects encroached upon 33 kanals and 11 marlas land at Khan Pur Rajputan village. OC 2 BOOKED ON FRAUD CHARGES Hoshiarpur: The district police have booked two persons on fraud charges. In a complaint lodged with the Model Town police station, Sanjh Sharma, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, told the police that a travel agent, Surinder Kumar, a resident of Chatara village in Una district, HP, allegedly cheated him of ~8 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. After taking the money, the suspect neither sent him abroad nor returned the money. In another case, Daljit Singh, a resident of Tanda, told the Tanda police that Mandeep Singh, a resident of Bahiram Sarista, Jalandhar district, allegedly cheated him of ~17 lakh on the pretext of selling land. OC Woman, daughter die in road mishap Our Correspondent Mukerian, March 24 A woman and her three-yearold daughter died while her husband had a narrow escape after the motorcycle they were riding was allegedly hit by a tipper on the national highway here this morning. The deceased have been identified as Madhu Bala and her daughter Ashya. Sharing information, Nand Kishore, a resident of Beh Dullo falling under the Talwara police station, said he, along with his wife Madhu Bala and daughter Ashya, was going to Jahanpur village on his motorcycle for some work around 9.30 am. A tipper, while trying to overtake another vehicle, hit their motorcycle around 200 meters Madhu Bala Ashya away from Bhangala Chungi, Mukerian. His wife and daughter died on the spot. ASI Dildar Singh said on the basis of the statement of Nand Kishore, they had arrested the tipper driver. The police also took the tipper into their possession. Road accidents claim two lives Hoshiarpur: Two persons were killed while one suffered injuries in two separate road accidents here. According to information, Hardeep Singh, a resident of Chitton village, told the Mahilpur police that his uncle, Narinder Kumar, was returning to the village after distributing invitation cards of his daughter’s wedding. When he reached Nariala village, a truck hit his uncle, leading to his death. In another case, Mahavir Singh, a resident of Ahirana Khurd, told the Mehtiana police that his sons - Kuljeet Singh and Baljeet Singh - were going to Hoshiarpur on a motorcycle to purchase medicines. When they reached near Marnaiyan Khurd village, a vehicle hit their two-wheeler. As a result, Baljeet died, while Kuljeet suffered serious injuries. The operation was conducted on the directions of Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintend of Police Ankur Gupta. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (special branch)cum-Shahkot DSP Vijay Kanwar Pal said Station House Officers (SHOs) of Mehat Pur, Shahkot, Lohian Khas, CIA in-charge and Excise Department officers took part in the operation. The DSP said 8.100 kg of poppy husk, 4.5 lakh litres of lahan (raw liquor) and material for storing lahan were recovered and destroyed on the spot. According to those affected by the problem, the issue has been troubling them since last month and there has been no solution in place till now. Narinder Singh Sagoo, an industrialist, said that around 100 units in the area had dirty sewerage water inside the premises. As per the information, Focal Point Extension has around 400 factories. “We had met the MC Commissioner in this regard and a meeting was called. Some people had started the work, but the matter has not been resolved yet,” he added. It was becoming a painstaking task for them to work and strike business deals in such conditions. However, traffic remained disrupted between Phagwara and Phillaur for over an hour after the mishap. As per the reports, the mishap took place when a motorist tried to save a dog resulting in the pile-up. No one suffered injuries in the mishap. After getting information, the police reached the spot. Amritsar, March 24 Three women belonging to Madhya Pradesh decamped with a purse of a woman devotee from the Golden Temple complex here yesterday. The suspects were arrested later after their identification with the help of the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the shrine. The suspects were identified as Sunita Rani, Khushbu and Ramsaki, all residents of Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. The police said a case was registered against the trio. Rajinder Kaur complained to the police that yesterday, she had come to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple. Around 4.30 pm, she entered a sarowar in the women section to take bath near Gurdwara Dukh Bhanjani Beri Sahib. The complainant said on coming out of the sarovar, she found her purse missing. It contained Rs 8,500 in cash along with her important documents and identity cards. She said it also had a small purse of her daughter-inlaw that contained Rs 6,000 in cash and other documents. The complainant said she noticed three women rushing outside the gurdwara. She followed them, but due to huge rush of devotees, the suspects managed to flee from langar hall. Later, she lodged a complaint with the police and the SGPC authorities. While scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the shrine, officials noticed movement of the women who were arrested by the police.
