All were ordered to undergo two year imprisonment each. He was said to be a frequent visitor to the police post but they failed to know intentions of the conman and continued to entertain him. Besides, he even used to get his pictures clicked with the police officials which he would show to the people to make them believe that he was also a policeman. Senior officials came to know about a picture clicked with several policemen a few months ago, following which action was taken against the suspect and he was arrested. In a statement issued by the police, they stated that during a special naka, a car was stopped and during search of the vehicle, the cash was seized. The man failed to show documents supporting the cash, following which the money was seized. Later, Income Tax (I-T) officials were informed and further action would be taken by them. Ludhiana, March 24 In a major relief to residents, the state government has recently notified a one-time settlement (OTS) policy for regularisation of unauthorised water, sewer connections at lowered rates. The residents can also submit pending water-sewer bills without any penalty and interest, if the lump sum amount is paid before June 5. Officials said normally, the residents have to pay up to Rs 2,350 for regularisation of the water-sewer connection of up to 125 sq yards domestic property. For the connection of the domestic building from 125-250 sq yards, the residents have to pay Rs 10,450. For properties with area above 250 sq yards and above 500 sq yards, the regularisation fee is Rs 13,250 and Rs 15,950, respectively. For commercial and industrial buildings, the residents have to pay up to Rs 28,550 as regularisation fee for property with area up to 250 sq yards. For the properties with area above 250 sq yards, the fee is up to Rs 42,950, depending upon the size of the property. But under the OTS policy notified by the state government, the connection of up to 125 sq yards property, can be regularised for Rs 400. May be the party is taking a little longer as the elections in Punjab are in the last phase.” At the same time, another BJP leader said it might take about 15 days to declare the names in the state. Kharar woman gang-raped, two city residents held Tribune News Service Chandigarh, March 24 Two persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a woman at a hotel in Sector 43 here. They have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sukhi (32), and Akash (35), residents of Ludhiana. Sources said Sukhwinder had booked a room at a hotel to watch an IPL match on Saturday. It is alleged that Sukhwinder called his woman friend to the hotel. The police said the woman reached the hotel and found that Akash was also present there. The victim alleged that the duo raped her and fled the place. The police were informed about the incident following which cops reached the scene. The victim, a Kharar resident, had alleged that Sukhwinder was her friend for the past six months. A case under Section 376 (D) (gang rape) of the IPC was registered and both the suspects were arrested from Ludhiana. The duo were produced in court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
