Don’t miss the bandana and the attitude. Pic was taken in Barista at Janpath, next to People Tree... Delhi peeps would know! Best years of my life. Best girl gang ever!” —IANS ‘I don’t want to get typecast’ It is easy for an actor to be typecast and Tanuj Virwani, best known for Prime Video series Inside Edge, says he is careful about not choosing similar kinds of projects. The actor is looking forward to a string of interesting outings, including Murshid, a series with Kay Kay Menon, a film with Vijay Raaz titled Johnny Jumper, a light-hearted film Puppy Love, and a short film with Gajraj Rao. He will also be seen in Applause Entertainment’s untitled crime thriller series alongside Rahul Dev. “I’m trying to keep things fresh and attempt different things. I can promise the audience that with every project that I do, whether it’s a small or big role, I’ll try to do something different. “I don’t want to get typecast or slotted. Getting slotted or typecast in our indus- Tanuj Virwani try is perhaps the easiest thing,” Virwani said. The actor, who starred as the hot-headed star cricketer Vayu Raghavan in Inside Edge in his digital debut, said the OTT platforms helped him grab diverse work opportunities, including the ongoing Season 15 of reality show Splitsvilla. The actor co-hosts Splitsvilla X5: ExSqueeze Me Please with Sunny Leone. — PTI Bade Miyan Chote Miyan makers’ ticket deal Buy one, get one The Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, is receiving a lot of positive response from the audience. After giving us chartbuster songs, he is now winning hearts as Amar Singh Chamkila Sheetal D ILJIT DOSANJH is on a high! Who wouldn’t be? The singer-actor rules the roost with his slew of musical hits like Naina, Magic and Khutti, and now the Netflix movie Amar Singh Chamkila adds another feather to his cap. His concert in Mumbai on Saturday night was attended by almost all celebs from the Hindi film industry. That speaks of Diljit’s phenomenal stardom. He is the man who could make Ed Sheeran sing in Punjabi! First thing first. Now that he has got rave reviews for playing the titular role in Amar Singh Chamkila, which is based on celebrated and controversial singer by the same name, we ask him what were the challenges in playing Chamkila as the role required him not just act but also perform live on the sets? He explains, “Playing a singer on screen may sound easy considering that I am a singer myself. But it was not so. When I do stage shows, I only sing, not act. Similarly, when I act on screen, I don’t sing. But to play the singer in this film, I had to perform on stage. It was a challenge to remember the dialogues as well as the lyrics. So, it was indeed difficult to be in the character while performing on stage. But it was altogether a different experience, unforgettable in many ways.” Director Imtiaz Ali incorporated the live footage of stage performances in the film rather than recording those songs later in a recording studio, which is the standard proce- Kendrick Lamar dure in filmmaking. In Ali’s viewpoint, Chamkila is an eternal love story between a musician and his music. Diljit too agrees with it and feels that Ali has been able to capture the journey and passion of Chamkila. “This is a film for music lovers. The film will bring you closer to music,” he says. Happy to have made his mark on OTT, first with Jogi and now with Amar Singh Chamkila, he is comfortable with all mediums, but it’s the infectious energy of the live audience that brings the best out of him. Diljit says, “Performing live will always remain my favourite. Having said that, it doesn’t mean acting or recording music is any less interesting. And as for the challenges, I do not find anything difficult as this is the path I chose voluntarily.” But then, for Diljit, challenges are needed for one to progress in life. “In my opinion, you won’t be able to enjoy the journey if there are no challenges. It’s a part of every profession and one has to work around them to enjoy the creative process.” ‘Siddharth and I discuss everything’ Vidya Balan shares mantra for successful marriage Vidya Balan, who is gearing up for her upcoming film Do Aur Do Pyaar with Pratik Gandhi, recently revealed the mantra to her successful marriage. But, Drake is not the one to take it lightly. The Canadian rapper seemingly launched a counter-offensive. Drake has apparently fired back — although there’s been no official confirmation — with a diss track that surfaced on social media. Early in the day, a four-minute “leaked” song attributed to Drake circulated on social media, with some doubting its authenticity and speculating that it was an AI-generated record. However, following a day filled with online discussion, Drake seemingly confirmed the track’s legitimacy by posting a photo on Instagram of Uma Thurman as the Bride in Kill Bill, wielding a Samurai sword while surrounded by a group of attackers. Drake’s song, apparently titled Push Ups, sees the rapper firing shots in all directions. He, of course, goes at Lamar straight out of the gate with a few jabs. He also poked fun at Lamar’s guest appearances on mainstream pop songs and suggested that Lamar’s former label, Top Dawg Entertainment, demanded half of his earnings. — IANS Drake The wait gets longer Janhvi Kapoor, RajKummar Rao’s Mr and Mrs Mahi gets new release date Janhvi Kapoor and RajKummar Rao’s highly anticipated film Mr and Mrs Mahi has now received a new release date.
