Investigating officer (IO) and Malsian police post incharge Kewal Singh said the suspects had been identified as Lovpreet Singh, Vishal and Sukhbir Singh, all residents of Riyab Wal village. Investigating officer (IO) Varinder Mohan Singh said the suspects had been identified as Jarnail Singh and Jaskaran Singh, residents of Sanghe Jagir village. Buta Ram, a resident of the same village, told the police that the suspects barged into his house on the evening of June 7, assaulted him and threatened him. A case under Sections 324, 452, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered. OC MIGRANT YOUTH ELECTROCUTED Phagwara: A migrant youth was electrocuted outside Nakodar railway station on Saturday. Government Railway Police (GRP) Assistant SubInspector (ASI) Jaspal Singh said the deceased had been identified as Durgesh Kumar (35), a native of Uttar Pradesh. The ASI said Durgesh was repairing the outer signal outside the Nakodar railway station along with 10 other workers. He accidentally touched a high-voltage power line and was electrocuted. The police handed over the body to the family after postmortem examination. OC 2 TRAVEL AGENTS BOOKED FOR FRAUD Phagwara: The Bilga police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping a man of ~5.56 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Swaran Jeet Singh, who is investigating officer in the case, said the suspects had been identified as Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Mehat Pur village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, and Tarsem Lal, alias Som Nath, a resident of Sekhu Pur village. SHO Jai Pal said the suspects had been identified as Ashik Raj and Satish Kumar, residents of Vaishali district in Bihar, and Ankit, a resident of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh and their unidentified accomplices. Gurdeep Singh, an NRI and a resident of Littran village, told the police in 2023 that he opened fixed deposit accounts in Axis Bank, Nakodar, with a maturity date of April 2024. The bank informed him that he has zero balance in his accounts as the FDs have been encashed. The NRI said he did not encash any FDs and demanded an inquiry. The SHO said the SSP ordered an inquiry by the cyber crime cell which established that a sum of ~1,06,88,400 had been fraudulently transferred from Axis Bank, Nakodar, through internet banking by the suspects. The District Attorney (Legal) gave his opinion to register a case. The SHO said a case under Sections 403, 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 66-C and 66-D of the Information Technology Act had been registered against the suspects. His mother said: “Gurchet’s aim was to hit the IIT score and he worked really hard for it since Class XI. Enrolling him at Aakash Institute was a good decision. We are grateful to his school teachers as well as his mentors at the institute for their consistent support and guidance that helped him achieve the goal. He used to take short breaks after three hours of study and also ensured that he got a good seven hours of sleep.”
