The ATP said the construction of a marriage palace had started on Ram Teerth Road. The owner was violating the sanctioned plan. The MC team reached the spot and stopped the construction work. They said they had taken the step as they feared a backlash from the management during the night. “We have informed our parents who will be coming tomorrow morning,” one of the demonstrators said. Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) Gurinderbir Singh said he was arrested from Mohan Nagar area falling under the Verka police station. On a tip-off, the cops on patrol intercepted the suspect. The man was frisked leading to seizure of the contraband from his possession. He was produced in a court and brought on police remand for further investigation. This came to light during a probe being carried out in the racket busted by the police on Wednesday. The racket was allegedly being operated by the District Manager of Sewa Kendra in Tarn Taran district. He was identified as Suraj Bhandari, a resident of Kiri Shahi village in Verowal. Bhandari has been absconding since the Tarn Taran police and Amritsar city police nominated him in separate FIRs. A manhunt has been launched to nab him. Despite mentioning wheelchair requirement in the ticket, the airline staff provided it after much delay. One of the passengers raised the issue with the airline staff and also recorded the video statement of Gurbax Singh Gill, the passenger in question. In his video statement, Gurbax Singh Gill stated that he has been waiting for the wheelchair for the last 20 minutes. “The airline staff didn’t provide me with a wheelchair. After alighting from the flight, the convenience of pedestrians and visitors were seen walking on those bricks. “It is not the first time that Heritage Street leading to the sacred Golden Temple has been inundated with sewer water. Rain increases the flow of water in the sanitary sewer causing it to overflow. It causes inconvenience to the devotees as they have no other option but to walk in the stinky black water,” said Ravi, a shopkeeper on Heritage Street. “The rainwater used to accumulate on Heritage Street but now it drains out soon. Sewer manholes often overflow in the area, which poses a major inconvenience to the commuters. The Municipal Corporation should conduct desilting of the sewer lines around Golden Temple,” said Surinder Singh, an SGPC employee. Jagdish Singh, a resident of Bagh Ramanand area, said, “The sewer lines under Heritage Street are not working properly. The MC should check the blockage, which leads to the overflow of sewer manholes. Tarn Taran, July 11 In a joint operation, the Punjab police and BSF seized a DJI Mavic classic drone and three packets of heroin weighing 474 grams from the fields of Bohar Singh, a resident of Khemkaran, on Wednesday. DSP , Bhikhiwind, Preetinder Singh said that the police had received a secret information regarding a drone lying in the fields of Bhohar Singh of Khemkaran. On receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot with BSF personnel and recovered the DJI Mavic Classic 3 drone along with the packet of heroin. A case under Section 10, 11, 12 and 13, Aircraft Act, and Section 21-C, NDPS Act, has been registered at the Khemkaran police station. Nothing suspicious was found on further search though the police is conducting a probe, said the DSP .
