Two of NDA’s key allies — HAM’s Jitan Ram Manjhi and RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary — skipped the meeting where the Congress again demanded Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker’s post besides seeking discussions on the NEET-UG paper leak, terror attacks in J&K, Manipur violence and serial train accidents. As many as 55 leaders from 44 parties attended the meeting, where smaller parties were invited for the first time, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
