They also ransacked the post. The father-son duo who, along with their supporters, had entered the police post also accused the police personnel of assaulting them in a drunken state. The injured police officials have been identified as post in-charge Jaswinder Singh, clerk Harish Sharma and constable Lucky Sharma. According to information, police officials of the Dharmpura police post had erected a naka on the Shingar Cinema road. The police were checking vehicles at night while acting on a tip-off regarding some snatchers roaming in the area. Later, when a father-son duo riding a Honda Activa scooter was stopped and asked to show documents of the vehicle, they started arguments with the police officials. The duo along with their supporters were at fault and a case was being registered against them. When asked about the names of suspects nominated in the case, the SHO, instead of giving details, hung up the phone. Meanwhile, ACP Akarshi Jain did not answer the phone call. When asked if an FIR is registered in the matter, ADCP-1 Jagbinder Singh said an FIR might had been registered. He needs to check the details first, only then he could reveal information. What police post in-charge say Police Post in-charge Jaswinder Singh said on Friday, some motorcycle-borne miscreants had committed a snatching in the New Hargobind Nagar area. After the incident, the police had recovered their motorcycle but they were not caught. The police had set up a naka to catch the snatchers. Sarab- 25 students duped of ~1.87 cr on pretext of issuing sponsorship certificate Tribune News Service Ludhiana, July 28 Some fraudsters from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Chennai hatched a conspiracy to cheat the owner of the immigration company and 25 students from Ludhiana. The suspects prepared fake certificates of sponsorship and handed over the same to the children. After investigation, it was revealed that all certificates given by the suspects were fake. During investigation, the Sarabha Nagar police, on the complaint of Madhvi Malhotra, a resident of Central Town, Pakhowal Road, registered a case against the suspects, identified as Babu Jenivar, Manika Priya Sabiah, a resident of Chennai, Manoj Victashan, a resident of Tamil Nadu, Dayala, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, Sarfraz and Sudhir. Madhvi Malhotra said they had been doing immigration work in Ludhiana for the past eight years. They had to send some children to the UK for further studies. The 25 students gave Rs 1.87 crore to the suspects but they sent fake certificates of sponsorship to the pupils. Malhotra said since she owns the responsibility of the children’s money, they had returned the same to the children by pledging her gold and property. Notably, in this regard, the children, along with Madhvi Malhotra, had also reached the office of the Commissioner of Police where they filed a complaint against them with the police officers concerned. The Ludhiana police after investigation have registered a case against the six suspects on the charges of criminal conspiracy, fraud and tampering with documents. Investigating officer ASI Rajinder Singh said a police team was formed to conduct raids at the whereabouts of the suspects. jit Singh and his son Harsidak were coming at high speed on a Honda Activa. What suspect told media Harsidak told the media he was going home with his father Sarabjit Singh after CIVIL HOSPITAL 24 employees get notices for unauthorised absence Ludhiana, July 28 Twenty-four employees of the Civil Hospital have been issued notices after they were found absent from duty during the Civil Surgeon’s visit to the hospital last week. Those who were found absent include three computer operators, 16 laboratory technicians, one electrician, one Class IV employee, one staffer from Blood Bank, one assistant medical officer and one working under the Arogya Mitra scheme. The hospital opens at 8 am and the Civil Surgeon reached around 9:30 am and after checking the attendance register, he found 24 employees absent from duty. On October 9, 2019, the man was again arrested by the Moti Nagar police here on the charges of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. Krishan was again arrested on June 9, 2020, on attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. During the camp, residents were urged to keep their houses and surroundings clean. Further they were also urged to ensure segregation of wet and dry waste in their respective households. Ludhiana, July 28 Despite making many efforts, the district administration and the Municipal Corporation have been unsuccessful in starting the carcass plant at Rasulpur village. Now, the MC Commissioner has submitted a report about the current situation to the Deputy Commissioner. The next hearing of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in the matter is scheduled on August 20. On July 17 also, officials went to start the carcass plant but returned after facing opposition from village residents. Before the hearing in the NGT, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sandeep Rishi has submitted the report with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney. The future of the plant will be decided on the basis of the report that will be submitted by the DC with the government. The carcass plant was constructed at a cost of around Rs 7.98 crore and was supposed to be inaugurated in July 2021 but faced opposition from residents. On January 15 this year, the MC, with the support of the administration and police officials, managed to make the plant operational but again faced opposition from the villagers. Balbir Singh, former sarpanch of Rasulpur village, said they would not allow the carcass plant to open in the village as it poses serious health hazards. The plant would help in disposing of/processing cattle carcass to create poultry feed supplements and fertilisers. But now it’s future hangs in fire. Rishi and more such drives would be organised in coming days. They appealed to the residents to support the civic body in solid waste management. PAU student found dead in hostel Ludhiana, July 28 The body of a student was found hanging in a hostel room of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana late on Sunday evening. Other students staying in the hostel raised the alarm after seeing the hanging body. The hostel warden informed the police. The police reached the spot and started a probe. The deceased was identified as Yogesh, a resident of Rajasthan. He was a student of first year of the Pathology Department. The police questioned students staying in the hostel. The autopsy will be conducted after arrival of his family tomorrow. Sources said Yogesh was under some stress due to which he might had taken the extreme step.
