A terrorist, believed to be a Pakistani, was also eliminated during the gunfight, officials said. It was the fourth encounter in recent days in the Udhampuri-Doda-Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir. A group of at least four terrorists first engaged with security forces on Tuesday, said the officials, adding that after the initial gunfight, the group managed to flee from the spot. Multiple brief gunfights took place between the security forces and terrorists since Tuesday evening. The operative part of the CAS verdict summarily dismissed the petition in one sentence: “The application filed by Vinesh Phogat on 7 August 2024 is dismissed.” The full verdict is expected to be released by August 16. Vinesh had been disqualified from the women’s 50kg wrestling final at the Olympics the day she was to fight her final bout, for exceeding the weight limit — at the 7.30 am weigh-in, Vinesh was found to be around 100 gm over the 50-kg limit for her category.
